Its because it’s a masterplan and not showing actual designs for what will be built, it’s a common way of depicting a desired style for a development without it looking too set in stone. Some of those images are photo-montages of existing buildings and not renders of basic designs (although some are), its more about setting an overall style and atmosphere than anything.

Yup, they're called "visions".

I'd love to have that job. Creating these "visions" that is. Looks fun.

25 floors at holt?

is it me imagination or is there an 80 metre 25 floor tower in the holt town plan? sorry i'm having difficulties keeping up with everything lately there's just silly amounts of huge proposals!!

page 13 onwards
http://www.publicaccess.manchester.g...7-ESI-0007.pdf

-i can only find it in the daylight report. like finding an 80 metres tall needle in a haystack of 4,300 proposed homes! agh!!

This does look an exciting development, the renders depicting exactly the sort of sustainable (in the social rather than environmental sense) communities that inner/central Manchester curently lacks. It remains to be seen however, whether middle-class families can be persuaded to live in apartments at this density. The UK middle-classes have hitherto shown no propensity to do so except in pockets of the Capital which has a history of middle-class occupation, all the infrastructure to support it in place, and property prices dictate such.

holt town has planned:
12 storeys x2
16 storeys x2
25 storeys x1
thanks gothicform for finding this in the planning application.

i'm guessing this was mentioned deep in another thread.

will get round to asking b4mmy to change the thread title to something more like:

Holt Town | 2x12 Storeys, 2x16 Storeys, 1x25 Storeys | Pro

that about right?

However, there's a LOT more than just 5 towers!

that's a different application. Holt Town already has outline permission.

The one you've posted is the Medlock Valley scheme (which sits across the road from Chancellor Place).
