NYC helicopter rides

has anybody ever taken one? Are they worth it?

I emailed one company and they told me they unfortunately could not guarantee me a window seat. I was wondering if you could still get good pics even if I don't get one.

Its around $200 bucks for a 15 min ride, so its a pretty expensive gamble.

Reckon at worst you could only be one seat from a window in a helicopter ? and they are pretty full of windows. I have only done these joy flights in New Zealand and over the Grand Canyon in the USA but think it's an experience you would remember........In a months time you forget what it cost !

thanks for the input. Thats what I was thinking, but I really want to get professional quality shots, so I hope I can get a window seat. I've never been in a helicopter before so I don't know how it is.

And if I can get those quality shots the 200 bucks is well, well worth it!

I spent $180/person exactly a month before the accident and was unknowingly upgraded to the most expensive flight option (for free). I didn't even realize that I was upgraded until I re-read the brochure last week.

And I don't think that sight-seeing helicopters are allowed to fly directly over the city.

I thought I recall after that sports player slammed his helicopter into Manhattan along the East River a few years ago, these helicopters were slapped with many more restrictions on where they cannot go.
