Namibe - coastal desert city | Angola | City Gallery

From Answers:
Quote:
Namibe (pre-1985: Moçâmedes) is the capital city of Namibe Province in Angola. Namibe is located in southwestern Angola and was founded in 1840. It is one of Angola's 3 major ports, including Luanda and Lobito as well. The city's current population is 150,000. Namibe has a cool dry climate and desert vegetation.

Namibe is served by the Namibe Airport located about 7 km to the South of the city. The old Yuri Gagarin airport, only about 1.7 km from the city's center, is inactive.

Well, I like this city actually. Angola is one of my main interests in the SSA too, overall. The city is largest southern most settlement, just south west from the city of Lubango. Namibe's location is on the coast and the northern beginnings of the Namib Desert. Some sources rank the city at 5th largest in Angola, others at #8. The city has character, the shore adds to it and so does it's architecture and aridness. Angola has a fine coastline in my opinion and a number of landscapes.

Excellent images, Matt! Superb photos too, well done to whoever took those images. Everything appears perfectly new and restored as if it was built yesterday!

The city it's much better from the last time i was there(April of 2007)
They are doing a great job down there. This is just to prove that investments are being done all over the country.
By the way, today Angola celebrates 6 years of PEACE
