Not in every football stadium but in many.
Still remains bad because it blocks part of the terrain view.
I think it's frustrating to have those big high railings in front of you.
Olympic stadium in Athens also have them in some stands.
Imagine to have paid quite a few money for a season ticket and have those railings in front of you.

This is in every german football stadium because this is the GUEST section. So there are no season tickets sold and that plexwall protects the other fans from flares, beer and other things being thrown. I keep wondering, you as greek should know about rioting in football.

On the regular seats in the BayArena you dont have fences of any kind between you and the field, those had been forbidden in the 90s.

Are you serious? How does this prevent people from throwing. It actually encourages throwing things as they can easily fly through while people from the other side cannot come directly at the throwers (that is why the fences are built - to prevent people from physical confrontation)...

First of all, rioting in football is not just a greek thing.
Of course i konw about it.
Thats why i can tell that this plexwall would not stop either flares and beers nor anything else.
It would only limit possible clash between the fans.

Plexwalls, nets, dead zones, etc... should not be necessary, because BAD things like these, shouldn't happen in any stadium in the world.

The BayArena is the most innovative football stadium in Germany. After banning fences, family safety, Skyboxes and hospitality they now introduces the first section where wine got served instead of beer.

Bayer Leverkusen is supporting Football culture. Lower sectors in D and E (yellow) are going to be transformed into standing areas this summer.

Why not all the stand behind the goal instead?

Well, I think it's normal to keep a few seats like this, even if it means some efforts to change things for European games since UEFA doesn't permit, they have to install seats then.

The main stand behind the goal was build in 1990. In that time it was only build for seating because people wanted to get rid of standing areas. So it was only possible to transform the lower part.

@ Werkself. Any idea what the new capacity will be once the standing areas are in place?

They say capacity wont change which I cant really believe. I think its because that stadium is officially not allowed to have more than 30210 because its located in the city.

Maybe its 30210 regular spectators plus VIP, press and staff. That´s what we call "Klüngel" in the Rheinland.

There is a rule like that in Germany?

Aren't the Olympic Stadiums of Berlin and Munchen, not to mention the some others like Mercedes-Benz Arena in the city and clearly over 30.000?
Yeah, they are older, but BayArena isn't built in 2009 either, just renovated and it's almost 100 years old.

No. Nearly all other Bundesliga stadiums are in the middle of nowhere or in a huge park. BayArena has houses next to it, so you got problems like in england, but also the same nice football culture benefits.

The rule is made individual for every stadium. We could get more spectators and Bayer 04 Leverkusen has made a form, but it ll take years. But we are OK, I like the size and most of the best football stadiums in the world are the small ones (like Boca and Aris).

Most of the BayArena structure is from 1988.
