Hotel Le Vendome - Sea Point

Hi there,
after many months of inactivity, it seems like a lot has been happening in the last few weeks onsite.

I went & asked people at the door but they were unable to share details.

Anyone knows?

Sorry, no images as there is no building work happening...The activity is happening inside, not outside.

Anyway, I just thought that someone would know the story behind this hotel that has been closed for such a long time but is looking now open again, yet I have not seen any stories on the net about it.

I dunno, but i remeber going into the place 10 years ago for an interview, and it was tumble-weeds in there - no life at all. I could sence its demise and it had barely opened! perhaps its being converted into something like the Peninsula, however, without any real veiws, even that may be a push!

The owners are oil rich Sheiks from Abu Dhabi with clear cash excess problems. The hotel was briefly taken off moth balls to accommodate a family visit and was briefly cleaned up and certain bedrooms and public areas given a lick of paint. The hotel would do well if repositioned into the three star market.
