The next big project nears start of contruction. On gaoloumi it's called Zaohua Stan International Financial Center(300m, 240m, 220m, 170m, 120m) - I'm not sure if we have a seperate thread for this project.

if you find sources please go ahead and open a new thread, it's easy to lose track of so many projects and it's good to have them when they become apparent to stay orderly

He means this one, which as everything about Qianhai is likely to turn out as a huge disappointment.

i wouldn't call a sea of 280-320m towers a huge disappointment though. It's sad that we lost the landmark towers, but they had been concept anyways.

I put it in the appropriate thread.

I also wouldn't call a supertall and 2 skyscrapers a disappointment (of course 450m would have been nicer).
If they build the ca 300m "sea" outlined in the current models it will be one of the world's most awesome clusters.

That's a nice masterplan but I lost all hope of Shenzhen delivering any megatall anytime soon

Indeed, there will be no megatalls in Shenzhen for at least 10 years to come, possibly even 20.

All the parts of Shenzhen that the town planners have groomed over the last 15 years (the entire urban core to the west of Central Park) to have land value that commands megatalls, turns out to be under the airport's strict aviation safety control zone. The town planners didn't even know about this fact -or- conciously chose to ignore it outright up until 2013. This problem has finally creep up to their backs and is now unfolding.

The parts of the urban core that are further away from the airport (east of Central Park, the old central hub of the city) was mostly neglected and left running on auto-pilot, without large scale infrastructure and environmental engineering investments from the city. The effects are now fully reflected in the property value discrepancies. There are still no solid plans from the wider city administrators (not just Luohu local gov) to remedy this problem.

BTW this thread should not have existed to begin with. Those news articles back in the day (the ones used for the basis of this thread) that said "Qianhai will have a 800 meter tall Finance Alley" made a critical error that got spread like wild fire on the back of the Qianhai hype. The correct sentence should have read "Qianhai will have a 800 meter long Finance Alley", a street that will be lined with the industry's premium offices.

that site is massive :O
on another note, I struggle to believe someone could simply ignore avation requirements, these poeple seem so vocal about plane routes and safety.. let alone plan any super or megatall without consultation.
some years ago, local to me, we've had a big fuss being made about a semi-high crane operating too close to the airport, followed by a long investigation.

I fully agree with you Scion! This is very disappointing and enlightening at the same time! It just boggles me why would they ignore height restriction in the first place! I mean it's not a problem that could be fixed with time and I bet it will cost too much to restructure the city to fit the laws.

This being said I very much doubt of the existence of this 800m tower because for the simple reason that such height is too great to be ignored by media and if it is true we should have been bombarded with signs and news on it by now.

What about the megatall/near megatall planned next to KK100? and the large scale Hubei old village redevelopment where there is a very tall tower(looks 450m+),The Evergrande center is supposed to be in that region as well(extremely unreliable developer though),There was a proposal of a 700m tower near Caiwuwei just a few weeks ago from a respected architecture firm(no firm developer though),there was talk of another 400m+(Zhonghai Shennan east road project)but there is few if any news. the fact remains that some of the largest redevelopment plans in China is supposed to begin in Luohu.
