The Sunwest group of companies expects to land the contract to develop the Bicol International Airport following a favorable court ruling that upheld the project.

In a statement, Robert C. Uy, Sunwest Construction Development Corp (SCDC) vice president and chief operating officer, said the company may begin construction of the Bicol region's premier airport following a recent court decision dismissing a legal challenge thrown by losing bidders, BSP & Co Inc and 4B Construction Corp.

“After five months of waiting, we hope that with this developments and court’s decision, Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) will finally award and issue the notice to proceed on the project to us,” Uy said.

“Sunwest is committed to responsible development emphasizing on the use of green materials and renewable energy technology whenever feasible in the design and construction of our development projects," he said.

On October 22, 2012, the DOTC Bids and Awards Committee opened the bids submitted for the project and declared SCDC as the lowest bidder with its P708 million offer, which was 20 percent lower than the government's floor price.

BSP & Co Inc and 4B Construction Corp however ran to the Mandaluyong City Regional Trial Court, seeking to nullify the auction. But Judge Maria A. Cancino-Erum of RTC Branch 211 dismissed both companies' petition for lack of jurisdiction.

SCDC said it is a triple-A class construction company in the Bicol region. The company is an affiliate of Sunwest Water and Electric Co, both of which are owned by Legazpi-based entrepreneur and businessman Elizaldy S. Co.

Earlier, Bicol lawmakers asked Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio A. Abaya to intervene and ensure the immediate implementation of the project and to take advantage of the summer season for constructing the project.

Department of Tourism data showed that foreign tourist arrivals in Albay climbed 24 percent last year, faster than the nine percent national average.

Actually, most of the Sports Complex in Visayas and Mindanao, Sunwest was the contractor/developer...........

Kaya palan so padihon ko, padagos na sa technical plans where the terminal will be erected........
