Langata Rd /Galleria mall type interchange would have been ideal for this busy intersection imho.

They where not moved. I think they just move on their own to adjacent spaces where the works have not affected them. I have not used this road in weeks I don't know the progress. Maybe the parts where most of this artisans are concentrated have been reached by now. But it appears the corridor they are taking is facing Ngong forest and not side of Dagoretti Corner/Lenana School.

They've moved all the garden sellers on the south side, but haven't touch any of the fundi's on the north side yet. This article in BD a few weeks says that the gov is gazetting the Telkom sports grounds for jua kali operations. I'm willing to bet it's to (finally) relocate this sector to more appropriate facilities. If so, this will be a huge step in the right direction.

The government has moved in to take over prime Telkom Kenya land on Ngong Road which it plans to allocate to informal business owners.

In a gazette notice published on Friday, the National Land Commission (NLC) on behalf of the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs says that it intends to acquire 79 acres of land registered under Telkom Kenya Limited.

The NLC chairman Muhammad Swazuri said the ministry intends to set up Jua Kali operations on the land.
And thinking about the loss of the sports ground for all schools & community groups who currently use it, if the planned national rugby stadium ever gets built it would be a win-win. The stadium is just adjacent to the current grounds & has incorporated smaller community pitches/tracks for public use.

I thought that land was owned by Unga Limited. I attended their AGM a few years ago when i was a shareholder and they indicated they own it, or its the adjacent one.

Stupid, arrogant and probably drunk drivers endanger lives of Kenyans on the roads daily. Such people should be locked up and licenses taken away for good. They have no space on public roads.

I was told something similar, that the stadium will partially be on Unga's land adjacent to the Telkom grounds.

We should resist the idea that any open space is turned into a market....where will be the public spaces where people can rest and connect with nature or even where will be the play grounds for children. Such place should be reserved a public space since there is nothing like a public space north of upperhill

Such a rule should extent to ALL AREAS,the reckless conversion of residential areas into unregulated chaotic commercial & small industrial zones is out of control .I should be able to walk undisturbed on the sidewalk in Kangemi ,visit uncluttered pavements of Eastleigh or take a peaceful jog near Ngong Racecourse .

I passed through ngong road yesterday. the work Japanese contractor is doing is marvellous,---road markings is excellent and foothpaths have been developed to the best standards. Japanese should be given a contract to do one of superhighways such as the one from JKIA to James Gichuru so that we can compare with the chinese. i hope though the contract starts from Kenya national library service because i have not seen any major work there.

I personally believe there is no equal to the Japanese in road marking. Those guys can literally mark every inch of the road
