According to information from railway forums, train 003 is manufactured in Switzerland (initially for "Aeroexpress") but other trains will be manufactured in Belarus.

Yes, I saw. There are former Aeroexpress's order trains (delied cause of crisis).

It's a lot better than what they currently have, and it's a stop gap. Be pleased the government doesn't spend your oil and gas money like the Sauds do. Azerbaijan at least is spending money where it's necessary, and will surely replace these second hand trains in the not too distant future. However for now, they are an upgrade! That's how you should look at it.

Though I think that they left the interior as it was so it will mostly be just plastic 2+3 seats

and only 1 or 2 trains with good seats

The interior of the ER2

Seems that they've changed only the seat covers and installed luggage racks or something

The interior shots of the new Stadler unit really show how enormous 1520 loading gauge is - huge amounts of space!

The funny thing is although the loading gauge is 3660mm, the train's only 3200mm wide, so I suppose the seats are not as spacious as the seats in most Japanese standard gauge trains which are 3380mm wide.

So is it to reduce the turbulance when two trains meet at higher speed because these trains will run faster than the trains they replace?
Or is it just to save the cost of re-designing and manufacturing the wider carriages?

The first set come from the Aeroexpress order, but I think Russia and Azerbaijan may have the same loading gauge.

That's very strange that it doesn't fully utilise the loading gauge - we may need to wait until there are shots of it at a station and then we can see how large the gap between platform and train is
