South Park in South Park

I've always wondered why South Park is even called South Park. Where is the park? Looks like the city actually had plans to make a park with a lake in the area, hence the name:

With all the development going on now is there some room left for a park like this?

Maybe it's referring to the TV show on Comedy Central?

^ Too funny.....

Doesn't LA have areas where the name has nothing to do with the area.

Example:

Miracle Mile~ What miracle happened there?
Echo Park~ They do have a park but it doesn't echo!
Jefferson Park~ No such park!
No Ho Arts~ Trust me is full of HO's @ night
We Ho~ They said it not me!!!

So you see absolutely nothing to do with the area*

Well why are there so many reasons that there are so many areas that have the name PARK at the end?

Yes I see the park and the futuristic people mover going underneath buildings and around the park. Great idea but it didn't get built. It's unfortunate that LA has dropped the ball so so so so many times. We've got to limit the power of these neighborhood councils. Thank god we have a new city planner now who believes in density, mass transit and green space.

That rendering shows a plan way too big for LA.

Is that blasphemy? Did "from los angeles" just say "too big" for LA?
