DFB Museum

Dortmund is to be home to the new National Football Museum of the German Football Association (DFB). That was the decision – with 137 votes to 102 – taken by delegates at an extraordinary general meeting of the DFB held in Düsseldorf on 24 April 2009.

WHERE: As for location, the City of Dortmund went on the offensive with a site on the Königswall directly opposite the Central Railway Station. A piece of prime real estate that was to meet the requirements of the DFB in every respect, a site predestined as a "unique selling point". PHOENIX RISES FROM THE ASHES – A LAKE FOR DORTMUND

Steel was refined in Dortmund-Hörde for 160 years. The name Phoenix stood for the blast furnace plant on the Phoenix-West site and the Hermannshütte oxygen steel plant on the Phoenix-Ost site. Structural change in the region brought the end of the steel era. In 2001 the plant site became one of the region’s many industrial wastelands. Phoenix is now however set to rise like the mythical Greek bird to become an innovation and leisure centre for the city of Dortmund. Phoenix Lake is a perfect example of the impetus that the Emscher conversion can give rise to. The river has hitherto been enclosed in the Hoesch conduit and channelled under the former plant site. In future a riverbed up to 50 metres wide along the site’s northern edge will enable the New Emscher to seek out its own route, with the river’s dynamic creating an ecologically high-quality water meadow landscape. An underground conduit for wastewater only was built to the south of the Phoenix Lake. Between the two, the biggest recreational lake in the Dortmund area – around 24 hectares in size and only 5 kilometres from the city centre – will be created.

Phoenix Lake is now an attractive area for leisure activities, but also for waterside living and working. A harbour is planned for the area near the Hörder Burg, which will be complemented by various businesses, recreational facilities, restaurants and cafés, with a focus on leisure activities on the Lake’s south banks. The lake’s northern and eastern banks will by contrast retain their original natural character as far as possible. On the Phoenix-West site the Landesentwicklungsgesellschaft (regional development corporation) is building a multifunctional centre for innovative companies; on the Phoenix-Ost site the Phoenix See Entwicklungsgesellschaft development company is building attractive housing and premises for companies offering services around the lake.

Boulevard Kamp[/SIZE]

Dortmunder U-Tower

The U-Tower or Dortmunder U is a former brewery building in the city of Dortmund, Germany. Since 2010 it serves as a center for the arts and creativity, housing among other facilities the Museum Ostwall.

The Dortmunder U shows artworks from 20th and 21st centuries, develops innovative concepts of cultural education in the digital age, initiates partnerships between art and science, and cooperates with different players in the context of creative industries. As a centre of international caliber in North Rhine-Westphalia it is a partner for regional as well as international projects and collaborates with other international institutions in the interdisciplinary field. The "U" will embody an innovative practice at the intersection of art, research, creativity, cultural education and economy.
It is a public place for research and study as well as for the experience and the discourse over art, media and today's culture for all citizens and ages. The "U" is based on a cooperation of diverse users of the U-Tower building: the Museum Ostwall, the Hartware MedienKunstVerein, the Cultural Office of the City of Dortmund, the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts, the TU Dortmund University, the european centre for creative economy (ecce) and the association U Cinema, operating the RWE Forum. Update of one the biggest browndfield redevelopment projects of the world - lake Phoenix Dortmund

Hafentor

The Harbour Gate project is developing faster than expected (quite unusual for Dortmund) It pulls the AOK and the police in Dortmund Hamburg Dockland into the building. In connection with the Freundlieb management, the old coaching inn, the Tull villa and Horder Castle is a truly very nice entree came.

The Alfred-Trappe street as a direct connection between old town and Phoenix Lake was completed. Some property owners have already invested in their stock, hopefully still with an eye for the beauty of its old buildings.

Riva 1

The Riva 1 project and Seehouse stand before their completion. All scaffolding around the building have fallen and the interior is nearing the end. Known to the Westphalian. Pfefferkorn restaurant and a cocktail bar, a large building in the feed and thus strengthen the gastronomic offer in the harbor.

FAPS

The long hope that the FAPS buildings are still adapted to the visualization, can probably be buried. Unfortunately really disappointing how different the visualization and the final product apart: ohno:

Seehouse

The Seehouse project is coming to completion. The interior of the restaurant is operated in a huge pace, probably one might even capture some sunshine this year

Overall, next to the Pier 4 certainly one of the most beautiful buildings on the lake, I ask for more of it!
