Thanks for this thread I've wanted to create something like this however you are quicker.
This thread should be dedicated to all infrastructural projects in Bratislava and for bigger ones we could also create special threads as you've admited.

The buses look nice, but most buses here in Canada have racks on the front to put your bike on if a cyclist wants to take the bus.

Long foot, for the tram lines I didn´t find the exact number, but from the map my very rough estimation is ca. 120-150 km in both directions.
Alltogether around 150 trams, 200 buses and little less trolleybuses are in operation.

For the two further questions, my judgement is, that about 70 % of Bratislava popluation uses daily public transport, also ca. 80 % of 150.000,- 200.000,- people outside the city, working in the city and almost 100% of ca. 100.000 students.

The last question I leave to others, or I will answer later on.

Beerliker, that´s interesting. In Bratislava we have from the June 3 new line for the bikers, running from Nový most up to the entire 4th district, where bike paths are all along the Danube and Morava rivers. The bikes are in trailer behind the bus.

I've read somewhere that 60% of people in Bratislava uses public transport and 40% cars. I haven't found any information about the number of public transport vehicles. Bratislava hasn't real suburban trains, there are some but their frequency is not high however in new project of public transport which is called "integrated" are plans for real suburban trains and for new or reconstructed railway stations which will be connected with subway or speed tram. All system of public transport will be changed in not very far future. Officials wants to build new backbone of public transport using subway or speedtram or combination of them and this project will be close to project Twin city which will make better and faster connection between Bratislava and Vienna. It's very complex and there is only a little information about it but I think soon we will know more because if Bratislava wants money from EU funds the projects must be approved before the end of year 2008 because then will be Bratislava too wealthy to get some EU money.

Nope, for now. It is planned for decades, the construction even started in 80s, but it was cancelled. It was decided that the main transport system will be based on fast and modern trams, like in most half-million cities worldwide. The construction will start in one year, I heard.

Yes, this tram is in testing and later on will be used abroad. Nevertheless, the fact, that the tram was tested in Bratislava I found interesting, maybe later - nex year? these vehicles will enrich Bratislava public transport vehicles park.

An regarding the construction of fast tram network, documetation for plannig permit is elaborated. It was already discussed I think inBratislava projects and construction thread. Construction of the subway has been really stopped, but not canceled totally. It is really long-term - 2015, or more realistically 2020, but e.g. in Eurovea will be a plot, dedicated for the future metro stop.

Tests have been performed successfully and the deputies of Bratislava expressed also their will to use Škoda 06 T tram in the future. Also Bombardier and Končar will have their presentations and possibly testing drives on Bratislava tram network.

I especially like yellow green Solarises with gas engine. They mostly operate on the routes from Bratislava IInd district to the center.

Yes I hope it really come up to be more real. But the project did not have a planning permit /územné rozhodnutie/ yet. So by chance the construction canbegin next year. Anyway, wat is more real in the second half of the next year, is the reconstructionof Old bridge /Starý most/ for lightrail purposes. Real plans are to exculde the car transportation on it, the bridge should be used by light rail, pedestrians and cyclists only.
