The project, which involves the construction of an underground laboratory, was initially to be located in the Nilgiris but later, on grounds that it was too close to tiger habitat, was moved to a cavern under a rocky mountain in the Bodi West Hills region of Theni district, about 110 kilometres west of Madurai in Tamil Nadu.

The already much-delayed and important physics project needs to be explained.

all this is like sevidan kaathula sangu oothurathu only (blowing conch into deaf ears). the ppl cannot understand the technicalities/science and the half-baked loud-mouthed party 'leaders' will keep on shouting just to appear on TV. while the 'useful idiots' of NGOs will consider themselves as some messiahs saving the poor and keep on agitating and collecting 'donations'. it is a miracle that koodankulam NPP even materialised amidst all the buffoonery.

Luckily ppl didn't protest before initiation of these project.once things are finalisied they would not pull back.
INOhas one more advantage that it requires water for its operation.so there is no way CG would allow Kerala to control the water by building dam.
Ppl ruined TATA minerals which was about to start its operation in nellai to support the goon VV minerals. now those minerals are smuggled through tuticorin port in the name of exporting Sand.

World Tamil Sangam building in Madurai to be completed by December

MADURAI: The construction of the World Tamil Sangam building here will be completed by December this year, Tamil development and information secretary M Rajaram said on Wednesday.

The building is being constructed on the Dr Thangaraj Road here at a cost of Rs 25 crore.

Minster for cooperation Sellur K Raju, school education minister K C Veeramani and Rajaram inspected the construction site on Wednesday and gave suggestions. They also planted saplings on the premises.

Rajaram said the construction was being carried out in a phased manner. He said the Tamil Nadu government had allocated a whopping Rs 100 crore to establish the Tamil Sangam.

Madurai has been known as the centre of 'Muthamizh' (the three-faceted Tamil language) -- Iyal (prose), Isai (music) and Nadagam (drama) since the Sangam age. It is also considered the epicenter of Tamil development activities.

The World Tamil Sangam would act as centre of all research activities of the Tamil departments at various universities.

It was a dream project of former chief minister MGR. He allotted 14.15 acres of land for this purpose in 1982. However, he could not establish it during his time due to various reasons.

All govt offices, institutions, hospital etc built around Tallakulam. That place is very congested and govt don't have vision to start developing other areas

District collectorate, Govt Rajaji hospital & medical college, Law college, district court, corporation office, University college, DoT offices, Gandhi museum, PWD offices, Radio station, Income tax office, stadium, Aavin, MIBT, new central veg market etc all with in 1 km radius, making this area congested.

Will govt wake up and try to move some of there to other areas?

Chances are some politicians own decent no of properties ( since not much land is available ) in that area and so decided to put up everything in that area.

A detailed proposal to make Madurai one of the 12 smart cities in the state has been sent to the Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation ( TNIDF) for further action, city Mayor Rajan Chellappa said here today.

A resolution in this regard was passed at a meeting of the Corporation council today, he said.

Madurai City will have to make equal contribution along with the state government for the project.
