As with the issue of supertalls, the problem is the height limit of The CAAP. The said rule only allows buildings to a maximum of around 250 m.
Given that, some supertall projects have to be scaled down such as The Gramercy for example. That might end up the same in other proposed supertalls such as The Stratford.
On the other hand, PBCom and a few skyscrapers have exceed that restriction.
Trump and Grand Hyatt Manila might reach The 280 m mark if the antenna / spire is placed.
The proximity of both Makati and Global City to NAIA is almost near so such is given. That is also the factor for Singapore with its 280 m limit but a skyscraper is being built somewhere in Orchard Road and even if its over that limit, it is not a supertall structure.
On the other hand in HK, Central Plaza was completed back in the early 90s and it was a close proximity to Kai Tak Airport when it was still operational and it was a supertall structure.
Places flying to and from NAIA usually follow The Manila Bay / C-5 route. They rarely fly over The CBD areas.
If a supertall structure is going to be built, it is possible either Midtown or Uptown. Midtown as in The Mandaluyong / Ortigas / San Juan or Uptown such as Quezon City.
A supertall freestanding structure is planned for the latter as such is needed for The Philippines to continue shifting to digital terrestrial television.
The only time supertalls can be built Downtown whether in Makati / The Fort or in Manila is the time our airport has been moved whether it's CRK or in Sangley Point but how long will that take.
From how I see it, Metro Manila will end up like Tokyo. The latter does not have any supertalls skyscrapers but has two supertall freestanding towers.
