The old school yard and hockey pitches at the upper end of the site are lined out and ready to go in the new year -

A new palisade fence separating the upper and lower ends of the site. I think this will serve two purposes. Firstly, in the shorter term, the lower end of the site is not ready yet. Longer term, there is a vehicle-unfriendly elevation change here, so it will keep cars from coming unstuck over that -

Still a bit untidy in parts at the lower end of the site -

Any sign of railway tracks yet?

I suppose the demolition phase being complete is good news, as one way or another, the site needs to be clear so it can be developed properly, even if it does have a car park phase between the two. Speaking of which, I assume the upper part of the site is now being used for parking?

But sarcasm and anti Anderson rhetoric aside, it wouldn't be to bad a place to site a commuter rail station. The highly skilled and paid professionals who are/will be employed in the industries (health/education/research) in that area of the city will not, I'm sure, be residing in Edge Hill, Kensington, Wavertree, Everton etc., but will be commuting from neighbourhoods leafy and ivied like Allerton, Woolton, Hoylake, Neston, Formby, Ainsdale etc.

Maybe nothing in this but I'm wondering if this will be redeveloped sooner rather than later. Royal hospital staff have been informed of changes (yet again) to off site parking provision as the owner of one of the sites wishes to move ahead with development of the (unnamed) site.

Wonder if that is in reference to the Gregson's Well / Low Hill site? Doesn't the hospital have parking at the back of that site? Might be wrong

What are the options, where else do RLUH staff park? Are there any parking spaces at the old builders merchants on Low Hill, next to Gregson's Well pub, or is that just for the new build staff?

Your not wrong Pablo 1878 further email stating it is indeed low hill that's closing.

Hmm interesting, do they give a date? Can't imagine it's an immediate closure, as the planning application has only just gone in.

As the plans contain some student flats, you'd imagine they would want to have it ready for the start of an academic year. This year is too soon, but September next year is a possibility - a tight one though. Maybe they have instigated this now to give current users sufficient notice, and to undertake site clearance while the application rumbles through planning. Assuming a positive outcome, they would then have perhaps a year to get it built. As I say it's tight, but doable.

Back on topic, and the lack of anything by way of plans for the site is really frustrating. I started this thread a year and a half ago, hoping we'd see plans drawn up in anticipation of the site's known upcoming vacancy. Not only did that not happen, the school has been gone six months and still nothing. This is a key site to the further development of the Knowledge Quarter, and I don't understand the apparent lack of interest or desire to see its potential realised.

A lot of time effort and money has gone into getting the upper part of the site ready as a car-park, including laying new power cables and erecting new lighting.....now sitting idle for weeks on end.

Don't hold your breath Chris ...don't forget one of the sites identified by Joe for his regeneration vehicle was the Mount Pleasent car park and that was five years ago.

Im really surprised its not ready yet. With the rest of the infrastructure in place you would think would be a spades in the ground ready project.... Lol!

You couldn't make it up - but I suppose when it comes to Joe, you could.

To be fair to him, whilst Joe might have jumped the gun, pissed a lot of people off, and totally misunderstood the timescales required with his statement. It would actually be an excellent location for a new station on an expanded City region metro system, if rather expensive.

You will find many locations talked about on these forums.

I think, given the position, we should be able to expect "announcements" of slightly higher quality, nonetheless.

If a layperson on here can understand some of the simple issues involved, I don't think it is unreasonable to expect.
