Spotted it on Wirralcam this morning so popped along to have a look.
More like a very big luxury yacht, but nice to see in port.

I've got a couple, seeing how Kenny let the side down.

I'll put them on later when I get home cos Imageshack was playing up earlier.

Seabourne Pride

Nice pictures, people. I watched the SP sail at 18.15, reversing out from the CLF and then sailing out at a nippy pace. The river was crowded, with a ro-ro ferry from Belfast arriving, two coasters and a Mersey Ferry all choosing their paths carefully. Is there another due next month, or do we have to wait for the QE2?

I'm sure it's an illusion but it doesn't look that much bigger than the old Royal Iris (the one that's rusting away somewhere, not forgotten but uncared for which is worse).

As far as I can work out, we are expecting the following at the CLF in the next few weeks -

QEII - 3rd October
Balmoral - 12th October
HMS Illustrious - 17th-20th October

I bet the passengers on that Seabourn Pride have a few bob to spend, looking at the seabourn website. www.seabourn.com

From the moment you first step aboard The Yachts of Seabourn, you´ll be part of an exclusive circle, the privileged few, who have discovered the true joys of yachting.

Aboard one of our intimate yachts, you will feel like a welcomed guest. The captain and officers seem like old friends. Everyone on the professionally trained staff – more than one per suite – not only knows you by name, but knows your personal preferences as well.

The days and nights are carefree and ultra luxurious. Personalized service is a way of life. Never lift a finger while you’re a guest of ours, unless it’s to signal a waiter for another bottle of vintage Bordeaux from the fully stocked wine cellar.

I'm not sure naming has been confirmed yet, maybe someone read this story, then like all these news items, they get turned into confirmed fact.

Quote:
City hopes to name new Cunard cruise liner
Oct 10 2007 by Neil Hodgson, Liverpool Echo

CRUISE giant Cunard today announced it was commissioning a 92,000-ton liner the Queen Elizabeth – and she could be named in Liverpool.

The £347m vessel will be built at the Italian shipyard Fincantieri and should be ready in the autumn of 2010.

Liverpool council held tentative talks with Cunard, which used to be based on the city’s waterfront, to name its two latest vessels Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria in the Mersey. But delays to the city’s new £19m cruise liner terminal dashed those hopes.

Queen Victoria is being named in Southampton on December 10.

Cunard’s giant QE2 visited the city last month on her 40th anniversary tour of the UK.

Council leader Warren Bradley said he hoped to open talks as soon as possible with Cunard on the possibility of the new 2,092-passenger vessel being named in Liverpool.

He said: “We have got to start immediately talking with Cunard for the new ship to be named in Liverpool and have the name of Liverpool on her bow - that is very important to us.”

Cunard president Carol Marlow today told the ECHO: “We appreciate the interest and the offer and we will certainly consider Liverpool because of our links with the city.”
From reading the above, i'm sure the naming of a ship doesn't equate to having the name Liverpool on the bow, that is to do with registration, i hope Warren succeeds in having the ship both named and registered in Liverpool, maybe even go for the triple whammy and get the ship named Liverpool....! but i'm sure the Evertonians won't like that, actually HMS Evertonia sounds quite Cunard shippish...

Kenny, the onus is on you to get pics of QE2 on Friday as I'm stuck working all day although Woody looks like even he might make an effort for a change.
