Thumbs up Google Earth's new updated Pakistan imagery

Google Earth seems to have had a massive database increase and it now covers most of Pakistan's major cities in high resolution, alongwith almost the entire coastline of Pakistan.

I have made this thread for people to put down any interesting observations they make while flying over Pakistan and its cities. If you come across something of good note, or even something fun, please put it down in this thread.

Some of my observations:

- you can follow almost all of the Makran Coastal Highway from Karachi to Gwadar

- Same with the motorway. But not all of it is available in high resolution. You can follow M-2 from Lahore till a long way in high res, then it becomes blurry. But then you can pick it up again near Isb, and then follow some of the underconstruction portion of the M-1 from Isb to Peshawar.

- Also, Faisalabad comes as a shock in concerns of town planning. The city appears with the old name of Lyalpur in Google Earth, and as can be seen, is remarkably well planned! Its laid out in entirety with streets following the same orthogonal nw-se, and ne-sw directions. I never thought Faisalabad would be so well laid out! Its not completely available in high res, but a large portion of it is and you can also see its famous clocktower square.

Check out Attock where there is said to be a SSG base underground. Also note the city right of Attock. It is extremely well planned...

The city on the right is KAMRA where PAC (Pakistan Aeronautical Complex) and PAF Base Minhas are situated.

Also have a look at Ghazi Barotha Project

The ATTOCK Fort:

This mughal era heritage fort is currently being used as a prison and is falling a victim to decay. It should be preserved as a tourism and heritage site.

Confluence of the rivers: Neelum and Indus at Attock.

Notice for how long the murky dark brown waters of the Neelum travel as a separate un-mixing stream even after they have joined up with the clear blue waters of the Indus.

The Sukker Barrage and headworks.

I also wanted to take an image of the historic Landsdowne Bridge near Sukker, but unfortunately its in a low resolution area. It is located directly towards the top side of this picture.
