It wouldn't be practical to have floors running down the entire side of the tower. Every floor needs an access elevator, a fire escape, ventilation ducts, water pipes, and electricity; and all of those would need to be routed through the floors below. Since the floors would be so small (just narrow "donuts" wrapped around the core), including all those amenities would not leave much room left for occupation.

The only reason would be that they want the titel of the tallest skyscraper in the world. Jeddah Tower would be "only" the tallest freestanding skyscraper in the world.

I've been too busy working, indeed. But it's not an endless process: I've already done it, and when you see it published (after Miami Boat Show - Feb 16 to 20) - you will be even more jealous.

I doubt it needs it. It's essentially a core like any tower of that height would have. The cables are primarily decorative, and to prevent vibrations and swinging in the wind. But that could be accomplished with a handful of cables, so clearly having a hundred is for looks.

Plus the cable themselves add even greater weight and downward force on the core than a standard structure would, so that core has to be damned solid just to withstand the downward compression of all those heavy and tensioned cables pulling down on it, by an immense number, more than if they had built floors all around it.

Expensive geometric aesthetic extravaganza is the hallmark of Calatrava's works, it's no different here at the Creek Harbour Tower.

nothing major, it just says Emaar is having talks with contractors to decide on who is going to do what.

It finally gives us it's name - the Lagoon Tower! Which we will definitely like a lot more than the miserable "The Tower", because it sounds nicely and is very appropriate.

Or Al Khor Tower! or Creek Tower, depends on what translator you use ... No name will be given not until 2020

Although you've spoiled a beautiful dream, I had to endorse your comment anyway - because it's very likely to become true (except that I feel like there are already a few buildings named exactly "Creek Tower" in Dubai).

Well in case of another financial crisis it will be "Abu Dhabi Tower", otherwise I'm looking forward to the big reveal of official height and name.

Rumors that the tower will not be delivered on the Expo time

Change in procurement strategy means tower will not be completed in time for the start of the 2020 Expo

This IS the international section, and the standard of the international section IS English. It just helps everybody be on the same page and avoids anybody accidentally making someone else feel stupid for not knowing the language.

Welll duuuh (addressed to the article) of course they won't, I always said this MIGHT top out in 2020.

Pre construction of what? they already are almost done with Piling! foundation contractor is doing his job and he's almost finished

This could mean actually 2 things, either the news is inaccurate or they made changes to the tower (like added more floors more height, just as they did with burj Khalifa)
