Should've built the one in Southport first

Coolangatta Sanbano apartment tower proves less than lucrative for its Chinese developers

http://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/...-1227301409021

Quote:
THE tower’s name is Sanbano and it has been marketed as the Palazzo Versace of the southern Gold Coast.

However, there is no similarity between the two in terms of sales.

The luxury 25-level Sanbano Coolangatta, completed late last year by a Chinese developer, has been touted as being for connoisseurs pursuing the very best life has to offer.

......

Property records show that at Sanbano, which was completed late last year, only six of its 28 apartments have sold.

The tower’s Hong Kong developer, perhaps realising it could be in for a long haul, has started furnishing and renting Sanbano apartments.

Several already are tenanted and one covering the 12th floor is available furnished at $1290 a week — for a minimum of 12 months.

It's a nice tower but you know, 3 million bucks for an apartment, why pay that if you can get it for 1.5 million in 3-4 years.

I didn't realise there were so few apartments in this tower. It seems kinda... silly? Especially in Coolangatta. I don't think retirees have that much dosh sitting around.

Well you have to consider the knock down prices penthouses and sub-penthouses go for, the Soul *Penthouse* sold recently for 7 million, that's the top couple of floors of Soul, a primo quality tower (hilarious to think they were hoping for over 20 million though). The Circle on Cavill penthouse went for 3.2 million, again, way below what was expected (though some chancer now trying to sell it for over 5 for a quick flip, I think he might struggle)).

So why would anyone pay outlandish off the plan prices for this stuff, especially given how peaky the property market is in Australia, especially when you know that high end stuff is primed to tumble the most as well. Oh did we forget about the new city plan and the massive influx of supply that's going to occur, that's not going to help either.

So yeah, I could think of better uses for that money.

Nice design mind you.
