Does anyone else think that boxing off The Loaf in glass makes it look bulky?

The Suria lift, based on the pictures that I have seen, I understand their idea of functionality and "modern high-end standard" but I think they missed the point in terms of design and aesthetic.

It's also "open" concept. I think IPC's glass lift is much better.

Oh, it's Christmas galore at Suria KLCC.

The three new elevators remind me of those in the Securities Commission building in Bukit Damansara... Kinda simple in design, without a doubt, but still functional nonetheless!

And I can't blame Suria KLCC for changing the previous aesthetically-pleasing twin bubble elevators - hated using those as the wait time is crazy and the elevator interiors are also very crammed... Made worse by the fact that strollers aren't allowed on escalators, which means a very long wait time just to go down ONE FLOOR!

Klang Valley SHOPPING MALLS | Proposals, News & Updates

Is it just me, or those elevators look small? Like really small. Smaller than my toilet.

Aesthetically, i would suggest them to clad it with stainless steel, so it will compliment the PTT exterior and the interior. The spray-coated dark grey (and exposed mechanism/structural) seems like really spoil the whole design and the whole notion of what PTT is all about. Looks outdated and out of place. Theme and concept all kelam kabut.

they used to have an open air space, a much better solution for Malaysia street cafe), now they put it in the box, even you just walk inside there, its scorching hot !

it does look small. really hope they clad it. its gonna be the centerpiece of the atrium, takkan nak naked just like that. design wise, its nothing great.

some of the escalator currently under some works of adding some led light. look kind a nice.

This actually doesn't look that bad, apart from the purple signage. But I don't really like the open/expose part of the lift. The expose frame does not fit with the mall's interior. As for the size, it does look small. They are trying to replicate the glass lift style seen in many European malls, right down to the color (grey).

Also if you notice, the shape of new lift is very square/rectangular/box type, with sharp corners, whereas the main atrium of the mall is shape like an oval/curvy. These two contrasting design makes the lift seems out of place.

Functionality wise, it is suppose to be better than it's previously century old lift.

Well, more people will "want" to use the lift now because it's a "glass/see-thru" lift. You know how humans are, it's new, it's glass/see-thru, so I must use it.

For comparison sake, let's take look at IPC lift, which I feel complements the entire mall's interior nicely.

And a final goodbye to the past....

As you can see, the previous design (bubble/oval) complements the atrium design, which is oval, curvy.
