I reckon so too.. Shame about some of the recent 'grey builds' tarnishing the image of high rise building in Hobart.
Lets hope with the completion of parliament square and some of the other nicer build such as the UTAS developments, people might start to look at high rise buildings differently.

Not if they're in Hobart and over 10 metres.

Anyway, can't wait for the new bars and restaurants coming in this big development. Will be great to have some new trendy/hipster type life happening here.

You can see how well it blends in with the Supreme Court when you stand further back in the park. The glazing on this side matches the glazing on the Supreme Court Building quite well and it almost seems as though the two are related.....

Good point.

And, if you look at the facade of the higher floors at the Commonwealth Law Courts building in Davey Street, you will see that it also mirrors that as well which is not surprising because the Commonwealth Law Court design was intended to complement the Supreme Court.

My spies tell me no fit out work has started yet because the State Government are dragging the chain regarding approval of the design. And the tower crane will be coming down on Sunday 21 August 2016.

If my spies are correct, the first stage office complex will be completed by March next year with some public servants possibly moving in a little earlier. Construction is proceeding well with the only delay being the State Government signing off on the fit out.

Work is continuing with the old Hospital which originally was going to be some office and retail/bars and restaurants but is now, I am reliably informed, going to be pretty much wholly subsumed into an expanded hotel complex which will include the old DHHS building. The 4 levels of glass topped rooms will still be added and work on that component is expected to be finished next year. We can expect an announcement on which operator will be appointed to run the hotel sometime in the next 6 weeks and as it is going to be 4.5 star it will be a well known and up market chain new to Hobart.

In around March of next year 10 Murray Street will be coming down and it is expected to take around 6 months to fully demolish the building. Then work will start on the 3 level River Building and the plaza areas.

Going to make a massive difference to the waterfront area when it is finished.

Just walked past the parliament square in all it's glory yesterday. Probably one of the best pieces of architecture I've ever seen built here in Tassie. Proud and will be class once completed.

Yes. The designers and Hansen and Yunken have done a great job. Gives me a lot of confidence about the next stages especially the makeover of the old DHHS Building facing Davey Street.

This building looks quite similar to a couple in the new Kings Cross NC1 zone of London. Nice to see that it isn't simply an "Sultan Tin & Concrete Job"

Looks like the scaffolding is starting to come down around the St Mary’s Hospital opposite St David's Park revealing the refurbished stonework......

Thanks On Y Va.

It will be interesting to see how the old girl looks now after a make over.

It would have been a great loss to Hobart's heritage if that building was demolished back in the 1950's...which was on the cards apparently at one time.

Looking great.. Nice mix of old and new. As much as it is sad to see a tall building demolished it will be fun to watch 10 Murray come down!
