McDonald's to Open Soon..

There's also a McDonald's that will open soon just beside Puregold FTI. I'm glad that I don't have to go that far whenever I have my McDo cravings.

Masyado namang Uniwide yung itsura ng hypermarket na iyan :P Anyway, I was surprised blue na ginagamit nilang color instead of green for their hypermarkets.

I guess they find green too Puregold.

Yeah, where's the effort in designing? Since a lot of their items are more expensive compared to exactly the same items in puregold, they could have set themselves apart from Puregold in terms of design superiority.

Maybe sinadya nilang not to give much effort since the property, I assume, is leased and they have no plans to stay there for long. And napagusapan naman yung "usufruct" ng Taguig City government some time ago, malay mo, SM's planning something. *conspiracy*

SM is practical. The structure is functional and needs only minimal refurbishing. People will need to shop at a nearby grocer nonetheless. So why increase capex? They can roll-over revenues to spend for rehab once the business is doing well.

This information (as stated in the news article) proves that Ayala Land DID NOT buy the Coastal Mall land, which is the site of an intermodal terminal. This means that this "insider" is just spreading rumors, plain and simple.

How can Gow/Uniwide sell the land when it is not even their property in the first place? They are just leasing the land from MBDC, which is the true owner. The Ayalas are not dumb to transact with someone who has no right/authority to sell the land.

Yes they have to be practical, I would agree on that. But you need to factor in the fact that this is just across Puregold.

If this branch is located without other hypermarkets or even supermarkets within a 500m radius, I wouldn't be complaining because the convenience of shopping nearby trumps the overly spartan design.

I believe this is a different case because it's right next door to competition, and a lower priced joint at that.

Apart from the higher pricing of SM, how could they differentiate themselves from Puregold? Maybe with a premium design that reflects their premium pricing. Needless to say it should also come with better service. What for would I be paying a few pesos more (or even tens of pesos more for some items) if I get practically the same shopping experience aside from the minor differences in product variety and quality?

OT: I've been to several SM Hypermarket and Puregold branches and I would say Puregold has a better design. Kahit na warehouse iyan they still care to cover it with a ceiling. (And they rarely use aluminum cladding unlike SM ) Ang ayaw ko lang with Puregold is they have a separate counter/stall pa for beauty products, at least sa branch nila dito sa amin.

And the lines are actually faster.

Which is weird since kahit na Puregold offers products at lower prices and their facilities are better than SM's, they still have a higher profit margin.

FTI to become the next BGC
by Francis T. Wakefield
Manila Bulletin
February 3, 2014 (updated)

The city government of Taguig announced that property developer Ayala Land is set to transform the 120-hectare Food Terminal Incorporated or (FTI) as the next Bonifacio Global City or (BGC).

Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano disclosed that Ayala Land have already started the development of the area. She said commercial buildings like shopping malls, restaurants, amusement parks, etc., are expected to be built in the area which is expected to create more jobs and boost tourism in the area.

Mayor Lani should aggressively support ARCA knowing the unsure status of BGC. my concern is the only access to FTI is via service road. there should be
additional access north of FTI, one towards C5, the other towards Taguig city hall. As mayor, she should do something in terms of planning and ROW for this.

I think there is a plan for the access road of ARCA (FTI) from C-5.

Is it possible to have another MRT through C5?

^just by looking at the speed of development in BGC, I think it will take 15-20 years for ARCA to be developed and become the next BGC.
