The Dubai Municipality announced on Wednesday that it will start construction-work on the iconic Dubai Frame project adjacent to the Stargate theme park in Zabeel Park next month. The Director-General of the Dubai Municipality, Hussain Nasser Lootah, said: “We have opened tenders and will be giving the assignment to the apt contractor according to our plan.”

The implementation of the Dh120 million project, a window-shaped structure that will give panoramic views of old and new Dubai from a 150 feet-high glass bridge, was ordered in July 2012 with a plan to complete it by this year end. In May this year, the municipality said the project would be completed by the end of 2014.

However, the civic body on Wednesday said the unique structure was expected to be ready by the second half of 2015, after a one-year delay from the last announcement made six months ago. In the latest statement, the municipality also gave the exact location of the tower at Zabeel Park. Lootah said the Dubai Municipality conducted extensive studies and research to identify the most ideal location for the project. “It was after an (intense) study and extensive consultation that the (location) was decided — near the Stargate of Zabeel Park — which is a famous point for visitors and tourists,” he said in a media statement.

Stargate, an edutainment theme park, is located near the Gate 4 of Zabeel Park in the heart of Dubai. The image released by the Dubai Municipality on Wednesday showed the tower with transparent glass walls in dusk bronze colour.

Dubai Frame Opens to the Public
Dubai, United Arab Emirates – 03 January 2018

The Dubai Frame opened to tourists and residents after five years in the making.

Dubai’s newest landmark is now open to the public and allows visitors to see the city’s past, present, and future in a one-hour tour with unique views of “old” and “new” Dubai from a 150-meter-high glass skybridge.

Also known as Berwaz Dubai, the Frame is comprised of two towers measuring 150 meters in height and connected by the 93-meter long skybridge at the top.

The location, in Zabeel Park, was especially chosen to give visitors the best view of the city’s older neighborhoods as well as the sparkling new buildings, such as the Burj Khalifa, while telling the story of Dubai’s transformation from humble fishing village to glittering modern metropolis.
The project was launched by Dubai Municipality in 2013, and anticipation has been building for the past five years.

Now, visitors can take in 360-degree views from the 25-square-meter glass panel in the skybridge’s center. Long lines of people gathered for the opening on New Year’s Day.

The Frame is now open daily from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and is priced at just Dh50 ($US13.61) for adults and Dh20 ($US5.45) for children, while adults over 60 and people of determination can visit for free.

Property giant Emaar has signed an exclusive agreement to market and promote the Dubai Frame, which it will do as one of its major tourist attractions, along with At The Top at the Burj Khalifa.
