Must still be bitter, because this place makes Safeco look like a rusty old erector set

Marlins close off upper deck for 6 games next week
Unprecedented for a 2nd year ballpark. MLB goes out of its way to prevent a guy like Cuban from owning a team, and at the same time tolerates garbage like Loria.

So that means that the fans can still pay upper deck prices for those lower bowl seats, right? Right? :p

Maybe they can kick the Marlins out, and re-work it to a football stadium for the Dolphins. Solves the Dolphins stadium problems, eliminates the headache known as the Marlins.

Yeah probably not a good idea.
However, now I'm intrigued as to how they would do it if they did.

Possible? Absolutely. Could it be done nicely? I'm guessing you could squeeze out a unique and highly functional 40-45k football stadium if the redone sideline doesn't feature too much premium seating. The catch is the structure as a whole is tightly configured, and not ideally so for further expansion in the directions most desired: Trying to punch outward in the direction where you'd want to introduce new stands you'd end up needing to close off roads! Perhaps you could reconfigure it to a cozy 45k+ stadium for the Hurricanes, which would be poetic. But the cost to do so would be insane.

Here's a good read from Grantland about the crappiness of attending a game at Marlins Park.

Hmm. According to ESPN the only teams below Miami are Tampa and Cleveland. Apart from last year's "New home" experience the team has consistently finished in the bottom 3 for attendance for several years now.
Doesn't change that the owner is the issue, though.

The park itself is great. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the park. The fact that the owner sucks and needs to go, doesn't change the fact that the team needed a new stadium. Marlins Park will be a big asset to Miami as soon as Loria is gone.
