how can they make such a big project with just 1 billion ruppes, thats not even 10 million dollars, eden tower in gulberg cost one billion ruppes and its only 16 storys, plus in this project there making a few big things.

and is it possible to complete a 40 storey building in 24 months.

1 Billion rupees is just for the Exhibition Center which will be made by the Govt."The master plan includes four exhibition halls, each with an area of 6,000 square meters, a warehouse, a congress centre with auxiliary conference rooms and a cafeteria"

The tower and the hotel will be constructed by a private investor. For which EOI and RFQ have been invited.

Yes a 40 storey building can be made in 24 months (Hashoo group has said that they will complete PC tower within 20-24 months).

^Its underconstruction and so is the hotel, dont know about the Technology Tower.

PHA Lahore has also started work on the land around the expo centre.

BTW The project is free from LDA rules, Technology Tower will have no problems with LDA.

The road leading to the Expo Centre is also under renovation these days. I think the road's name is Khayaban-e-Jinnah... It's a narrow road - only 2 lanes on each side with a service lane and a wide green belt in the middle. btw, a new Pizza Hut branch has opened nearby that road.

Techno, the Expo centre will have (almost) direct approaches from at least two different roads.
1) from Canal, this road certainly needs some uplifting - a new pizza hut branch has opened there (not sure if its the biggest in Pakistan - I wouldn't claim that).
2) from Johar Town main road (off Molana Showkat Ali Road), this road is currently under-going renovation - its still really narrow! isn't good! they should decrease the width of the green belt in the middle of the road. they can easily put an extra lane on each side! Anyhow, this road goes straight to Showkat Khanum Hospital and then towards Raiwind road. the road from the hospital to raiwind rd is a single road with two-way traffic with only two lanes. its name is Khayaban-e-Jinnah.

Post Expo center

One of the approaches mentioned by huit is not direct approach. IInd direct approac would be from canal through a double road before bypass road. This road is in the middle of Suparco pulley and bypass shukat khanum road(still single road called death road these days). The road links canal with expo center. On one side of the road is J block and on the other side of the road lies H block. Still no construction activity on the site yet.

Statrt of work at expo center site

Very little activity on the site has begun. The construction company which has been awarded the contract is "Shalimar contruction Company". consultant is NEspak while designer is Nayyer Ali Dada. Land levelling has begun. But full time activity has not yet started.

Tentative date of start of construction on site is 16-10-2005 (sunday). Const. company is expected to shift all necessary equipment on site till that date. foundation stone laying ceremony is also expected on that date.
