Any photos from 1960-1990?

I was just wondering if anyone had some South African city photos from around 1960-1990? The reason I ask is that I like the old pictures and new stuff is just too easy to find.

The older pics are more difficult to find - unless you come upon an old discarded postcard rack in the corner of a shop. Will see what we can find. It is difficult though.

I've got stacks of photos in books... but really can't be arsed to scan them all for you... are you perhaps in Cape Town? Because then I could show you.

That famous Zurich restraunt in Hillbrow. The guy has moved and I think he has a new restraunt in Coachmans Crossing.

Yikes... that shows how stagnant most inner cities in S.Africa have been for years. Looks like the early 80's, yet the only change is the big-black bank tower! So glad CBD's are getting cleaned up!

Durban back in the day

Here are some pics I found of Durban from the middle of the 20th Century...

Durban from the bluff 1956

Kings Park 1960

Durban City Hall (then town hall) - date unknown - 1940's?

Given the carts around the town hall and the lack of vehicles on the dirt roads.. My guess is that photo is much much closer to the early 1900's, maybe even the late 1890's.

Not really 1960-1990 - WAY earlier

Couldn't find a better place, but enjoy. These are of Cape Town in the early 1900s:

Okay, here we have Adderley Street:

Then Victoria Drive (Camps Bay):

The Pier:

Another one of the pier:

Amazing how it has changed so much...

From these pics you can see exactly when South Africa had its big boom. From the 1960s to late 1970s the country developed like china does now! And guess what guys were going into that boom phase again!!! Exiting times
