Calicut (Kozhikode) has a low cost of living. The rates of apartments on the South Beach Road is only 1550 / sq.ft while the same kind is 2600 in Cochin. IF you have the money to live happily ever after getting a flat in Calicut is best. It has an International airport, Very near to the City center 1.5 kms to the Railway Station and Bus Station. What else can you want. West hill is a good residential area. A few softare companies are looking for places around in Kozhikode.....Real Estate is cheap. :runaway:
rahul those are out dated ones....already sent and u can also the completed structures on the back pages...any ways welcome to this forum...expecting more pics and news from u:cheers:
Truly...I cant believe my eyes! Its a really good sign that lane discipline is followed. Delhi Metro Corp chief Sreedharan has envisaged a Bus Rapid Transit System for Calicut and Trivandrum, insted of the Metro Rail. Just go through this link.
A BRTS, in the way proposed by Sreedharan will never be succesful if public is not aware of the importance of driving through the right lane. A dedicated bus lane must only be for buses, but it will be interesting to see how our citizens, especially the auto drivers, react to such an 'inviting' open lane. In Europe, taxis are also allowed in bus lanes but i dont think autos can be allowed the same way in Kerala. It will be chaotic!
One point is that a BRTS would not be an alternative for a Metro Rail, as commented by him. It is a necessity for our cities. But options like Sky Bus, Monorail or even a Metro might be needed for Trivandrum & Calicut, may be in 20 yrs time. Even a Metro in Cochin is sure to make losses even if all the proposed developments materialise. But the advantage is that it will take the pressure off the congested roads in a massive way, and thats why it is considered. So there is no reason why it cant be considered in other cities if the aim of the Metro is faster commuting and decongestion of roads...
scorpio..i think its the only jn in calicut where lane traffic is followed:lol: thanx to the photographer who took tat pic,but reality is different during peak hourshno:.....

Incredible India keeps attracting international airlines
04-Jul-2007
(CAPA): Indias airports handled 25.8 million international passengers in the 12 months ended 31-Mar-07, up 15.1%, year-on-year, driven by sustained economic growth and liberalisation of market access.
Mumbai was the busiest airport, handling 7.3 million international passengers (+9.2%), followed by Delhi (6.7 million, +15.4%) and Chennai (2.9 million, +11.1%). But Bangalore led the rapidly expanding secondary cities, surging through the 1 million barrier for the first time with a 46.2% increase in traffic in 2006/07. Hyderabad also reported better than average growth (+21.3%, while Trivandrum (+18.2%), Calicut (+17.1%), Amritsar (+19.3%) and Kochi (+23.7%) are building volumes strongly. http://indiaaviation.aero/news/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3768&Itemid=59
^^ - Nice to see that the Leela Group is also looking at Calicut for IT operations. They already have IT parks at Trivandrum and Cochin. A private investor will be a boost for the nascent IT sector in Calicut. kay:
