Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport

Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport is located 17 km northeast of Makassar and operated by PT. Angkasa Pura I. The new terminal was opened on 20 August 2008. This airport is the main gateway for flights to the eastern part of Indonesia, and named after Sultan Hasanuddin, a Sultan of Gowa, who fought against the Dutch East India Company in the 1660s.

LOCATION

Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport is located on the border of Makassar, and Maros, a suburb in South Sulawesi, approximately 15 minutes (17 km) from Makassar City via Toll way or 20 minutes (23 km) via regular road.

HISTORY

Hasanuddin Airport was built in 1935 by the Government Indies Netherlands, named Kadieng Flying Field and located approximately 22 kilometers to the north of the city. An airfield runway with grass-sized 1600 mx 45 m (Runway 08-26) was inaugurated on September 27, 1937, marked with the commercial flight linking Singapore with the Douglas Aircraft D2/F6 company KNILM (Koninklijke Nederlands Indische Luchtvaart Maatschappij). In 1942, the government of Japan expanded the field using POW labor and renamed the field Field Mandai. In 1945, the government partners Dutch built a new runway .

In 1950, the Government of Indonesia Department of Public Works, Section Flying Field, took over the field, and it was transferred to the Civil Aviation, now the Directorate General Air Transportation in 1955, which extended the runway 2,345 m x 45m and renamed the airport Air Mandai. In 1980, the 13-31 runway was built—2500 m x 45 m; it was in this year, that the Port of Air Mandai changed to Air Port Hasanuddin, and in 1981 was again renamed Airports Embarkation / debarkation Hajj in 1985 and the Port of Hasanuddin Air changed its name to Hasanuddin Airport.

On 3 March 1987, the management of Hasanuddin Airport was transferred from the Directorate General of Air Transport to Perum Angkasa Pura I, based on Government Regulation No. 1 / 1987 of 9 January 1987. On January 1, 1993 the status changed to PT (Persero) Angkasa Pura I. On 30 October 1994, Hasanuddin Airport, now International Airport in accordance with the decision of the Minister of Transportation, KM number 61/1994 dated 7 January 1995, and inaugurated by the Governor Level I Regional Head of South Sulawesi Province. 28 March 1995 marked the flight by Malaysia Airlines directly from Kuala Lumpur to Hasanuddin Airport Makassar, then followed with a Silk Air flight that connected Singapore Changi Airport with Hasanuddin. Since 1990, Hasanuddin Airport is used as embarkation / debarkation directly from the pilgrimage to Jeddah vv.

In addition to this remote Hasanuddin airport before the flight to serve International traffic in control area Eastern Indonesia Makassar UCA (Upper Area Control), which include areas air through the western part of the Kalimantan border to the country Papua New Guinea to the east, and from the border region Air of Australia to the south to the border region Philippine and Oakland in (USA) to the north

Hasanuddin Airport serves the Eastern Indonesia Area and South Sulawesi Province. On 20 August 2008 the new terminal was operational. The terminal is 5 times larger than the old one and can accommodate most types of aircraft from small aircraft to Boeing 747s

On January 8, 2010, the airport inaugurated its newly built 3100 m runway (3/21) for commercial flights.With the inauguration of the 2nd runway, Hasanuddin became the second airport in Indonesia that has two runways after Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta. It is also the only airport in Indonesia that has a pair of non-parallel (cross like) runway.

Between 2011 - 2012, the local government will started to extend the runway from 3100 m to 3500 m so it can be maximally landed by biggest aircraft such as 747. It's still waiting for the clearance of nearby residency area.

OLD TERMINAL

This terminal not longer used for commercial flights because of overcapacity. Since the new terminal opened on 20 August 2008, all operational commercial flights moved from old terminal to new terminal. Then, this terminal is used by the TNI-AU (Indonesian Air Force) which houses Skadron Udara 11 (Air Squadron 11).

NEW TERMINAL

Located in southern side of old terminal new terminal connected by Raya Bandara 1 Road. This terminal used new concept eco-airport and adopted traditional house style of South Sulawesi. With capacity 7 million passengers and in 2010 has served 5 million passengers,[1] this terminal is five times larger than the old terminal. Has area 51 thousands meters square for terminal building and 78 thousand meters square for apron, also six jetbridges installed in new terminal. Apron of terminal can accommodate most types of aircraft from small aircraft to Boeing 747s. This new terminal also has 60 shop stands in the shopping area, free hotspot in waiting room, and 350 trolleys.

Dirut GMF AeroAsia Richard Budihadianto mengatakan, GMF AeroAsia secara resmi menjadi ASF Bombardier yang pertama di Asia Pasifik dan yang keenam di dunia. Selanjutnya, GMF berhak melaksanakan perawatan pesawat Bombardier tipe CRJ Series (700/900/ 1000) hingga tahap perawatan skala berat. Realisasi kerja sama itu ditargetkan pada pertengahan 2014. "Kerja sama GMF AeroAsia dan Bombardier ini dapat meningkatkan posisi GMF di pasar perawatan pesawat secara global," kata Richard.

Menurut dia, kepercayaan pabrikan Bombardier menunjukkan kualitas GMF sudah setara dengan perusahaan maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) pesawat kelas dunia lainnya. Sebagai ASF Bombardier di kawasan Asia Pasifik, peluang pasar yang dapat diserap GMF akan makin besar. Perawatan pesawat CRJ 1000 NextGen yang dioperasikan Garuda Indonesia nantinya juga dapat dilakukan di GMF.

Menurut dia, pesawat Bombardier CRJ 1000 NextGen dioperasikan oleh sejumlah maskapai di Eropa dan Amerika Serikat, seperti Luthfansa CityLine, Atlantic Southeast Airlines, American Eagle Airlines, Air Canada Jazz, dan China Express. Pesawat Bombardier dengan kapasitas tempat duduk di bawah 100 unit cocok untuk melayani rute-rute pendek, seperti di kawasan timur Indonesia. "Pasar perawatan pesawat Bombardier di Asia Pasifik senilai 2 miliar dolar AS merupakan peluang bagi GMF," tuturnya.

Richard menjelaskan, untuk tahap awal, GMF menjajaki kerja sama dengan PT Angkasa Pura I untuk membangun hangar perawatan Bombardier di Bandara Hasanuddin, Makassar. Selanjutnya, di Bandara Kuala Namu Medan serta Denpasar, Balikpapan, dan Biak. Jadi, perawatan Bombardier tidak akan dilakukan di Bandara Soekarno-Hatta, Jakarta.

Sebenernya saya pusing banged sama garis-garis frame alumunium atau metal konstruksi (expose) gedung terminal... Pengennya terlihat transparan, tetapi jadi mahal sekali bila diperbanyak frame less (tanpa rangka)nya.

Kalo area check in malah bagus, saya suka sekali... cukup mewah seperti mau checkin di hotel.
