Located 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) east of the city of Jakarta, this new town master plan will enhance the function of the community and the lifestyle of its residents.

The site is intersected by a river which will be left as a natural park with a series of island developments, lakes, and bridges along its course. Two strongly defined districts are proposed on both sides of the river; one district will focus on governmental activity, and the other will focus on commercial activity.

they resume construction of this city this year.

BSD started first but I think Jababeka city is far more advanced by now. It hosts a lot of multinational company and cited as future cyber city.

BSD have now been rebranded as BSD City and BSD is no longer represent Bumi Serpong Damai but just a phrase itself. This change is caused the sale of the project to the Sinar Mas group from Ciputra Group. A new ITC BSD have been opened resently while BSD Junction is positioned across ITC and will be connected by a bridge. It is expected to complete by this year. In actual fact, the land of BSD Junction is actully planned for a grenery.

The new central business district (the pictures above) is to be developed on the south west area of the current BSD City as the city itself have been developed partialy (50%).

TANGERANG, KOMPAS--PT Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) yang kini dikendalikan Grup Sinar Mas dalam waktu dekat membangun sebuah Central Business District (CBD) di lahan seluas 72 hektar di pusat BSD City timur. PT BSD telah memasarkan CBD tahap pertama kepada para investor potensial.

"PT BSD telah mempresentasikan penawaran ini ke calon investor," kata Corporate Communication General Manager Sinar Mas Group Developer and Real Estate, Dhony Rahajoe, Rabu (6/12). Gedung German Center yang dibangun enam lantai di lahan 1,5 hektar selesai tahun 1999, menjadi pusat inkubasi usaha dengan memberikan berbagai pelayanan satu atap. Beroperasinya German Center diharapkan mendorong investasi usaha Jerman di BSD.

Selain itu, kata Dhony, PT BSD telah mengalokasikan lahan seluas 270 hektar untuk pembangunan kawasan industri, 200 ha di antaranya rampung dan dinamai Taman Tekno. Lokasinya dekat Puspiptek dan ITI.

Tahun depan, BSD mengembangkan pembangunan ke wilayah barat seluas 2.000 ha, melengkapi yang sudah terbangun seluas 1.500 ha. Di dalamnya termasuk pembangunan Universitas Katolik Atmajaya, yang akan memindahkan kampusnya di BSD.

Fasilitas BSD City yang sudah tersedia saat ini adalah pusat perbelanjaan ITC BSD dan BSD Junction, ratusan ruko, pusat rekreasi air Ocean Park, fasilitas olahraga renang dan tenis, juga lapangan golf rancangan Jack Nicklaus. Saat ini terdapat 42 sekolah (TK sampai universitas) dan lebih 100 restoran dan pusat jajan di BSD.

Taman Kota 150 Ha

Dalam perencanaan ke depan, PT BSD akan membangun Taman Kota seluas 150 hektar di sepanjang tepian Sungai Cisadane. Taman tersebut akan berfungsi sebagai area hijau, direncanakan dilengkapi dengan fasilitas olah raga dan rekreasi, pasar terbuka, high-tech park, pusat rekreasi keluarga, dan taman botani dan danau.

Saat ini BSD memiliki dua Taman Kota, yaitu Taman_Kota 1 seluas 2,5 ha di dekat Sekolah Al Azhar. Setiap hari Taman Kota ramai dikunjungi warga, tidak hanya warga BSD, apalagi pada akhir pekan. Taman Kota 2 seluas 9 hektar baru diresmikan Juni 2006 lalu, lokasinya dekat Taman Tekno.

Sejak jalan tol BSD-Bintaro menyambung ke Pondok Indah dan tol lingkarluar TB Simatupang, kawasan BSD sangat mudah dan cepat dijangkau. Dampaknya, harga rumah, tanah, dan ruko di BSD melonjak drastis hingga tiga kali lipat.

Tahun depan, PT KA mengoperasikan KRL 24 jam dari Stasiun Tanah Abang ke Stasiun Serpong dengan rel ganda. Ini artinya kawasan ini makin mudah dijangkau dengan KRL, selain dengan bus Feeder Trans BSD yang melintasi Ratu Plaza dan Mangga Dua.

BSD merupakan pengembangan kota baru terbesar di Indonesia dengan lisensi membangun kota seluas 6.000 hektar, memadukan permukiman, komersial, dan industrial. Pengembang lainnya yng membangun kota terpadu adalah Lippo Cikarang Bekasi (5.500 ha), Delta Mas Bekasi (3.000 ha), Citra Raya Tangerang (2.500 ha), Bintaro Jaya Tangerang (2.321 ha), Grand Wisata Bekasi (2.000 ha), Bukit Sentul Bogor (2.000 ha), Lippo Karawaci Tangerang (1.500 ha), Citra Indah Bogor (1.200 ha), Gading Serpong Tangerang (800 ha), Kota Modern Tangerang (770 ha), Alam Sutra Tangerang (700 ha).

Note that it will be 24 hours of train operation. This is good news for BSD residents and occupants.:)

I hope all new town/city will be connected by existing railway network.

and plus, they're constructing new station in Serpong and then this line will be equipped with electronics ticket. Government is getting serious now to improve public transportation in Jakarta and surrounding suburbs.
Great news, it's good to hear that... do we have a rendering of the underconstruction station ? (or maybe i've missed a thread as well...)
