Yes all the problems started when TTC/SETC operations of intra-state long distance buses got reduced. I feel between two places say for e.g Trichy- Coimbatore should be operated only by TNSTC Trichy region and Coimbatore region buses. All the unwanted operations like Madurai - tiruvannamalai by karaikudi regions and all should be stopped.

What Yugen Quoted is reasonable fact Prasanna. The service area falls under the region but cant operate long service in absence of a depot. Instead of making cut service like MDU-Neyveli T.s By Perambalur depot , its better to offer a full END to END service in both ways without making service cut.

TNSTC kum is operating such routes for operational advantages like madurai thiruvannamalai and madurai-kanchi by KKDI region instead of trichy region and trichhy region operates karaikudi-erode route and karaikudi- tiruppur route so they have this arrangement within TNSTC KUm for operational benefit and they don have problem with this but I donno why some of the forummer has problem with this arrangement.

Like wise The TNSTC VPM has full rights to operate thiruvannamalai-coimbatore service as the starting point is thiruvannamalai even though majority of its route lies in other regions...if we say a region should operate a route if only majority of route falls under its jjurisdiction then TNSTC NGL cannot operate its major routes like nagercoil/kanyakumari to madurai,dindigul,palani, salem,trichy etc etc as it has only 50-60 kms under its territory and all other falls in other regions.

Attur - Palani pairs

TN 30 N 1008 Attur - Palani of Rasipuram depot @Erode BS.

Rear View. Also TN 30 N 0900 Salem - Erode (Rasipuram Branch) entering the BS.

TN 33 N 2557 Palani - Attur. Tiruppur region - Dharapuram depot guy working this route - spotted @ Attur BS.

Another view. Could not able to take the pic at proper angle because of the broker guy leaning on the front of the bus.

Suncar, haven't traveled yet on this stretch ..but i can very much predict that these guys will give a damn about others .

Also Yesterday i noticed that the default TNSTC phenomenon of lugging was missing and in fact we hit 60KMPH in no time . This is where the private and omni guys takes the lead and if TNSTC sets this right then they are the Kings

I agree, I generally hate comments coming why this division is operating there is revenue loss etc.,End of the day all are TNSTC..There is nothing wrong..
That is the reason I want all these long routes to be gven to SETC to operate 2 x 2 Ordinary with Ordinary fare.. then may be people will take Depot wise arugments

Diwali Special Buses fetch Over Rs 8 cr

CHENNAI: The State Transport Corporations earned an additional 19 per cent revenue as compared to last year by operating more than 18,000 special buses during the peak Deepavali rush this year.

According to figures sourced from the transport department, as many as 9,088 special buses were operated from October 17 to 21, while an equal number of buses were operated between October 22 and 26. Deepavali was celebrated on October 22 across the State.

The most plied routes were Chennai-Trichy, Chennai-Thanjavur and Chennai-Madurai. “Since buses are available to all parts of the State from Trichy, there was a heavy rush in buses starting from Trichy,” a State transport official said.

There has been a marked increase of 1,000 special services operated over last year, contributing to the increase in revenue. Commuters who don’t get seats on trains which are booked two months in advance, take to State transport buses as fares for both trains and non air-conditioned buses are near equivalent.
