it hard to be creative when the culture in this country demands conformity

Haha, before think out of box, think in business sense first. Is your creativity able to make money, or you able to capitalise your creativity. Only creative that able to make money is valuable. Brutal yet simple fact.

Growing tulips outside genting park....beautiful, second day botak ady, Malaysian...you know right.

How much return you can make from such effort? Put theme park at other place, then really susah for ppl who stay in those mountain top hotel... of coz cable car can earn more... but very lousy idea for theme park goers.

And look at the brochure, do you think 21st fox themepark genting bird view photo able to attract more ppl, or tulips flowers genting bird view more attractive?

I agree on this... genting shud study Macau LV and even USS to fully maximise the potential of Genting Highland

USS alone has so much to do within that small space. There's world-class 7 hotels, USS alone, Casino, maritime museum, lights and water crane show, Adventure Water Cove park, largest Aquarium in World etc

Genting only has Casino, Sky Avenue, Fox Theme Park and GPO

I'm sure Genting can do alot better than that

Just whether they wan to spend the extra money to make it even better than Sentosa and other famous integrated resorts

Erm... ya actually can co-exist. Tulip and roses inside the park or allocate some space for it.

When you are a monopoly. There's isn't really much incentives to do better. TM proton and astro are a good example. The only reason they go all out in sentosa is because they wanted to protect their monopoly.

Nothing will change unless SG or MY started to license more IR licenses and bring in more competition.

Everything got a sweet point. Over competition will lead to destruction. Like Astro, if too many competitors, it will end up none will be able to bring latest program or live sport coverage as it deem too expensive to do so. Too little competition or monopoly, users will kena with high fees.

Genting highland really doing not as bad, i would argue. They can continue on with lousy facilities since no competition. Such monopoly, they have no point of spending lavishly and doing all thsoe renovation.

Genting highland doing about the same as RWS, no??

Theme park: USS vs Fox

Hotels: Both got many hotels, why want world class hotels? You like to sleep expensive hotel? Genting highland hotel able to offer free stay to members during off peak season bcoz visitors will gamble and spend within the mountain. But RWS cannot do like that bcoz visitors will just cabut to singapore and shop and just enjoy free stay in RWS, really rugi.

Casino: cannot compete, RWS can only have 5% of the total land area used for casino. Genting highland way way bigger and no need check ID/passport, in and out freely as long as you do not look kiddy

Museum: maritime museum vs Lim Goh Tong museum Dunno what museum they will bring in, last time got riply museum.

Water park: Adventure Water Cove park VS such cold weather no one want to play water laa. Last time got haunted house, not sure what they will bring in next.

Free show: lights and water crane show VS multi storey super big LED screen show with colourful kinetic rain

Retails: Two rows of shops, mainly F&B. VS a building of shops with nice mixture

Cinema: No cinema (at vivo) VS with cinema

Other attraction: largest Aquarium in World VS golf course at the bottom of mountain, premier outlet at the middle of mountain connect by cable car, concert performance. Also the part where Snow world and bowling locate ady close down, dunno what they plan to build...hopefully something nice.

Of coz you cant compare with current incomplete stage... but If you really compare, Genting highland still win out lah.

YES but does everybody play golf and spend their entire day inside a cinema and walking endlessly inside a Aeon style mall? Or watch the kinetic thing the whole day and play bowling?

You can easily spend 3 ful days on USS/Sentosa but what can you really do in Genting highland for 3 days?

Shop and walk and shop for 3 days? Not everybody gambles too what about children and older folks who don't gamble? What else is there to do?

So in RWS you can watch Lights and water crane show the whole day?
Two type of activities: (A)those that go one time only vs (B)those that can go repeatedly

(A) theme parks, RWS after go one time liao, you think ppl will patron repeatedly? Not if they purchase yearly ticket, but after one year, will they continue another year? Satisfaction quickly wear off, USS or FOX, same thing. This include those free show that keep repeating the same things.

(B) F&B, retail shops, normally every 3 months can go shop again if you are hard core shopaholic because products get to change and renew. Also cinema, entire day in a cinema habis all the movies, then one more month, do the same thing again.

SO RWS for me ady like I had spent the initial 3 days, next time come, just casino. Go out jalan, one hour walk walk, buy beverage, buy pop corn, that's all.

YOu think RWS can compare to Genting highland for repeating patrons?

OH yea. When i was child, remember last time genting highland theme park, although so nothing to do, initial few times still manage to buy ticket go there and lepak, lining up enjoying not so exciting rides..... that was the first 2 to 3 years... after that really tak boleh tahan, heard my parent say go genting also feel reluctant. When RWS open, i also cannot enter casino that time, but those attractions was worthwhile. But after 1 year, no more RWS for me, nothing to do, dun want to follow my parent go there. Not until next following year when i can enter casino liao, baru follow again.

So my conclusion: RWS can spend first 3 days, while genting highland can spend repeatedly many 3 days, due to the cinema, F&B, retails and concert.

well you got that points right... i already visited genting 4 times this year even when the whole outdoor park was in total construction mess... their greatest appeal power is the weather up there for us tropical folks who tired of the ac down here that makes our skin dry fast...

Sentosa was done they way it was because SG government insist on everything in SG be world class. Maybe only the LED light show in Genting Highlands is world class. Maybe the theme park, have to wait and see when it opens. Genting Highlands in general looks too low class and lack of beauty. They also never capitalise on the cold weather. Lack of beautiful trees and flowers and gardens and mountain viewpoints. Lack also of outdoor pedestrian malls. With the cool weather, they should have done more outdoor shopping streets to give a feel like you are in a cool climate, and not put everything indoor. KL got so many indoor shopping malls, there is no need to go to Genting Highlands for an indoor shopping mall.

This is the one that annoys me the most.

With the way they've built the place currently it might as well have been on the floor.

GPO on the other hand, was better. The outdoorsy type of public areas work a lot better in the highlands than it does for their Johor counterpart.

It's constructed in such a way to contain the crowd and people inside so they get to spend spend and spend at their shops and casino

They could have beautiful the street and walkways and made beautiful gardens for tourists to come and enjoy the outdoor cool air

Awana is nice but it's too far down and it's old and dated
