Is there a pic of the sculpture at the base yet?

I think the problem with the glass is that in the renders the clean reflective glass was a real contrast with the broken up and generally jenga like aspect of the structure of the tower concrete. Now with the white edges, the whole thing looks a little messy. Maybe in 20 years when they replace the glass it'll be the gem we all think it should be.

Interesting that for buildings from before the advent of Modernism in the 50's we would rarely think that changing the glass would dramatically affect our perception of their quality/aesthetic charms

Indeed, those thick white frames ruin this building for me. They could have easily made open-able frameless windows. It's been done before.

I think if you look closely, the white frames were always in the renders.

The white edges were literally in the renders.

I think the base is one of the strongest features of this great building. I work nearby and walk by it all the time. The use of solid, unbroken glass panels, the large floor height, and the massive cantilevers create a solid and fascinating base for what soars above. These bottom seven floors appear as a distinct section of the structure and do a marvelous job of attracting our eyes at street level. The Kapoor sculpture will make it even better.

The more complete it is, the less and less I like it. Most of the time the real buildings tend to look better to me than the renders, but not here. I liked the render, but I'm not crazy about the final product. It looks awkward, unfinished, even damaged.

I absolutely love this tower, but I admit it does not photograph well. IRL, though, stunning.
