Nice addition to the area. I can't wait to see this precinct in 10 years. It will be totally transformed and a great place to wander around, as well as live, work, and play.

Umhlanga Ridge has a very nice collection of low-rise contemporary architecture, great addition. Thanks Dysan1.

Very nice!

I know you all hate it when i say this but here goes: Another nail in the Durban Point coffin.

They will never be able to compete as they are just so far behind.

I dont think these will affect point in any way. Totally different concepts. Point is more leisure & shoppin orientated where as these is more business

i dont see it as anything like a nail in the coffin. they catering for different markets. Umhlanga NTC is a business and residential node, not much of a touristy place except for gateway really.

Ridgeside will be a bit more touristy due to views, but will still remain more business and residential focussed.

The point is aimed primarily at the tourists, with a residential component to add further life. Once there is finality in terms of what is happening there, confidence in it will grow again and it will fulfill its tourist role. They are complimentary developments. Yes tourists will be in Umhlanga NTC and some businesses will open in the point (old mutual have offices there at present and an accouting firm is in the Spinnaker). But they will stick their respective strengths.

Personally i prefer living up Gateway side, but others will prefer other areas

Also a Point to remember, if phase 3 kick's in soon at the Point with the SCH. It could be a much needed catalyst for the area.

If the small craft harbour gets approval, the Point will be elevated to a new league and have attractions that Umhlanga doesn't and can't have (canals, yacht mole, scuba diving, sailing, coupled with great beaches, malls, etc). I agree with Dysan and DC: I don't see them competing; simply complementing each other.
