The Health Centrum – a promising tourist destination

The Health Centrum, no doubt, could be one of the region’s unique tourist destinations every visitor can enjoy in Roxas City, Capiz.

Nestled in a six-hectare health-conducive setting, the Health Centrum will feature affordable, safe and quality health-related services, state of the art medical equipment, and highest standard of technology available and world-class facilities in one roof.

The facility evokes a friendly-atmosphere as if everyone you meet seems to wear genuine Capiceño hospitality with a smile.

From the security personnel, the receptionists and the passing health staff you meet at the lobbies, clinics and hallways, an unspoken word of “welcome” and “glad you came” gesture is visibly apparent.

It is not surprising to hear visitor not regretting passing by the area in their day or half-day tour in the Seafood City while attending conventions or on educational field trips, or having their Lakbay-Aral travel on their way to the island paradise of Boracay.

Visitors and convention participants coming from Luzon would find it a pleasant surprise that a 3rd class city like Roxas could have such hotel-like hospital, world-class amenities and more space for improvement.

Travelers with health ailments could only sigh in disbelief that such venue does exist outside the big city or in any highly-urbanized cities where big hospital and health clinics can be found. For them, having such a venue in a small city is something unique.

A brief tour inside the well-ventilated, fully air-conditioned and amply lighted health center would reveal more discoveries other than the usual facilities one can find in a hospital.

The entrance is spacious enough to accommodate a group of 50 – 100 visitors wanting to have a guided tour. The hallways are wider than the usual and the floor tiles are whiter than the usual. The glass walls that separates the functional offices, clinics, pharmacy and function rooms only manifest transparency otherwise required only in the government buildings.

A standard elevator is in place to service patients in a wheel chair or in cushioned hospital roller bed ready for operation or from the operating room on to the recovery room in the second floor. Each private room is uniquely designed with enough space for movement.

The Medical Imaging Center is on its appropriate place in The Health Centrum – meant to promote and provide state of the art imaging technology and prompt, high quality accurate diagnoses. Its importance in the hospital setting is vital as it gives physician with clear insights and accurate information needed to diagnose a particular condition or help patients maintain optimal health.

The Kidney Wellness and Dialysis Center is also in place, and is using Reuse Dialyzers and Single-use Dialyzers to provide patients with safe, high quality and affordable hemodialysis treatment. Reuse is considered a controversial practice in nephrology and many providers choose single use dialyzers for their patients.

The Endoscopy Center is also a prominent place in The Health Centrum which is specifically designed to perform procedures not requiring the patient to stay overnight. It is a medical procedure allows a doctor to observe the inside of the body without performing surgery. The tube-like endoscope or the fibroscope is inserted into the body’s natural opening like the mouth or the anus.

Ultrasound, X-ray and Computed Tomography Scan are in conspicuous place in the hospital. With a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) soon to come, the Healh Centrum will be the first hospital to have the technology in the entire Province of Capiz.

With a hotel and mall soon to rise up in the vicinity of the hospital, a gym, spa and a retirement village along its premises – The Health Centrum will soon become the only Medical Tourism Park ever to exist in Western Visayas.
