#Canal Quays - 8F - Residential - V&A Waterfront | Completed

Name: Canal Quays
Floors: 7
Status: ???
Location: Cape Town

I don't remeber this development being posted, but if it was then Thryve please remove it for me.

Canal Quays is situated at the gateway to Africa’s most visited tourist destination. Located on Cape Town’s Foreshore, between the Cape Town International Convention Centre and the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, the Roggebaai Canal will provide Canal Quays’ residents with an enviable backyard of vibrant energy and secluded serenity.

With so much to come home to, residents might find it difficult to leave. But when they simply have to, the airport, cruise-liner berth, waterfront, beaches, golf course, gyms, mountain and city are all only minutes away.

Designed by one of the Waterfront’s signature architects, cutting-edge interior design and maritime architectural expression combine to offer luxury apartment living at its best. As a thoroughly modern multi-level apartment development, Canal Quays faces north onto the Cape Town harbour and Atlantic Ocean, while the south façade faces the city and Table Mountain.

Roggebaai Canal Tourism Precinct

Good Pule you beat me to posting this development before I went to the Projects section with the info. Good going!

This development I heard about three years ago as being the first property development on the Roggebaai Canal, which is between the Cape Town Convention Centre/ArabellaSheraton complex and the V&A Waterfront. Given the recent sale of the V&A to a foreign investor the Roggebaai Canal looks like prime property given it's location. Another new development was announced that will also be built on the canal which will be known as the HarbourBridge. Go to the SSC link at: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=392685

Canal Quays offers connectivity to the city plus waterfront lifestyle

Launching on Saturday 7 October, Cape Town’s Canal Quays boasts an exclusive set of advantages rarely found together. Situated on the bustling Roggebaai Canal, it offers the luxury of marina living coupled with a connectivity to the various facets that make up the City of Cape Town that can only be envied.

Explains Ian Slot, MD of Seeff Atlantic Seaboard and Seeff City Bowl, who are marketing the development: ‘Canal Quays is situated at the gateway to Africa’s most visited tourist destination. Located on Cape Town’s Foreshore, between the Cape Town International Convention Centre and the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, the Roggebaai Canal will provide Canal Quays’ residents with an enviable backyard!’

Designed by one of the Waterfront’s signature architects Dennis Fabian, Canal Quays faces north onto the Cape Town harbour and Atlantic Ocean, while the south façade faces the city and Table Mountain. In total 72 luxury studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments are accommodated in the nine-storey development.

There are some specialised units - six are duplex penthouse apartments with pools and terraces, and seven are garden apartments with terraces and specialist landscaped areas. Sizes cover a wide range, from 53m2 (plus a 6m2 balcony) up to a massive 222m2 of internal space with a 53m2 terrace. Another option offers 187m2 of interior space and 215m2 of exterior area/terrace so there are permutations to suit many lifestyles. Prices start at R1.55-million rising to R12m plus. One or two parking bays are included, as is a storeroom.

Making use of natural light and natural ventilation, protection from noise is provided by sound-reducing glazing to the windows. All of the apartments’ main bedroom and living areas feature air-conditioning. Owners can define the space they live in with a choice from three interior design themes, each with its own palette in terms of colour, style, and materials and textures: Cool, Sensual or Hot.

The entire development, by Zwelinzima Property Developers and Project Managers, is protected by access control at all entrances and 24-hour manned CCTV security. An integrated intercom system and security alarms are also included. There is a concierge desk, residents’ recreation area with catering facilities, a pool deck, spillway pool and changing room facilities. There is provision for wired satellite TV and Internet connectivity. Covered parking is provided, plus a carwash bay.

Ian says: ‘Canal Quays makes waterfront living more accessible through realistic pricing without compromising on product quality. Thanks to themed interior design, impeccable attention to detail and all the unexpected extras you’ll find here – Canal Quays is not only close to the city’s best, it is a destination in itself.’

This launch weekend Canal Quays is on show from 9am to 1pm on Saturday 7 October and from 2 to 5pm on Sunday 8 October 2006.

Canal Quays

I remember seeing their old website which had press releases in it from 2003. In one of the releases from 2004 it shows a picture of two executives with the property development company showing off the site which in the background showed signs it had already broken ground at that time.

I dont like the rendering, it makes it seem like this stand alone building with nothing around it..its not well integrated to give us an idea of how it will really fit into the setting. its a nice development,no amazing architecture, its typical of the waterfront in the pre-dubai phase. nothing amazing.

read up on previous articles and info posted on the waterfront sale, there should be enough info to answer your question. african riviera doesnt imply disney. pre-dubai meaning lack of spending and investment in realising the true potential of the waterfront, more of a maintaining and improving outlook instead of the ambitious ideas the new owners have. what the current owners would have spent over 20 years will now be spent over 5-7 years.

wow I really like this one too.. it's hot ass..

read an article that this new investment by Dubai will mean quite a few international brands making their way down to the V&A.. don't think it'll go disney, but definitely glam.
