Those aren't even the actual ticket prices - they are prices from resale sites.

Maybe what the NFL should clamp down on is the number of people who get tickets just to resell them.

I agree.. just like a spoiled kid who asked for what ever he got for Christmas.. got it and then did not like it...and expecting others to jump through hoops for him to get his next desire.

You've mentioned the Top 14, but missed them off the list of figures. Also, I wouldn't include the Heineken Cup (nor Amlin Challenge Cup nor LV= Cup), since they're not bona fide leagues...

I underlined the leagues I've "crossed" off so to speak. I'll update thanks to jonath841's post just above.

Six Nations rugby - 67'967 ( 1 week to go )

I'm going to try and put together some attendance figures for International rugby when I get time. The attendances of the top teams rival some of the biggest club franchise in the world.

Attendance information doesn't really appear in the Belgian media on a regular basis. I personally only keep track of Club Brugge's (FC Bruges) statistics. I've found two international sources with the average attendances for the Belgian first division (Jupiler Pro League), their information is different, I don't know where they get it from. I'll use worldfootball.net since it's more up-to-date and the number for Bruges is closer to the number communicated by the club. I added stadium capacity and (rounded) percentage attendance/capacity.

http://www.worldfootball.net/attenda...e-2013-2014/1/

Club - total attendance - games - average attendance - stadium capacity - attendance/capacity (%)
1 Club Brugge KV 381,024 15 25,402* - 29,062 - 87.5%
2 Standard Ličge 357,626 15 23,842 - 29,388 - 81%
3 KRC Genk 323,206 15 21,547 - 24,601 - 87.5%
4 RSC Anderlecht 321,520 15 21,435 - 21,500 - 99.5%
5 KAA Gent 278,139 15 18,543 - 19,999 (new stadium opened 2013) - 92.5%
6 KV Mechelen 145,323 15 9,688 - 14,145 - 68.5%
7 Oud-Heverlee Leuven 125,006 15 8,334 - 9,319 - 89.5%
8 Cercle Brugge 123,583 15 8,239 (same stadium as Club Brugge KV) - 29,062 - 28.5%
9 SV Zulte-Waregem 122,403 15 8,160 - 8,500 - 96%
10 KV Kortrijk 113,574 15 7,572 - 9,399 - 80.5%
11 Sporting Lokeren 108,499 15 7,233 - 8,952 - 81%
12 Lierse SK 107,947 15 7,196 - 14,538 - 49.5%
13 Sporting Charleroi 95,580 15 6,372 - 14,000 (approx.) - 45.5%
14 Waasland-Beveren 89,081 15 5,939 - 8,190 - 72.5%
15 KV Oostende 78,129 15 5,209 - 8,125 - 64%
16 RAEC Mons 57,745 15 3,850 - 9,504 - 40,5%
overall 2,827,373 240 11,781

* Changed to number(s) communicated by the Club.

Play-offs start tomorrow. Leader Standard and first pursuer Bruges have practically sold out their stadiums (both 29,000-30,000 capacity) for the five remaining home games.

^ tremendous figures for Italy, hope the poor year they had don't dampen the growing appetite for the 6 Nations there.

Yes unfortunatley return to a renovated Stadio Flaminio with a capacity of 42,000.

Six nations crowds are some of the best of any sporting events in the world. I hope one day Romania, Georgia, Russia etc can step and join the competition. It probably won't happen for decades but it's something we can all hope for.

I'd say shame on Nebraska, TAMU, Auburn and ASU for having 8 home games, but the real criminal is the system that doesn't mandate balanced scheduling to begin with. Sadly I don't see the latest union movement as fixing that issue because the answer to all their concerns hinges on more money instead of less play. Alas, methinks cfb has gone so far down the rabbit hole that we'll never know true collegiality at these schools again.

I agree.

The NCAA should mandate that all teams play one non-conference road game, which cannot be moved to a neutral site more than 50 miles from the home stadium.

I think you gents know that the NCAA allows this unbalanced schedule so smaller schools can have a big payday at a much larger school.. and of course the hosting schools pocket even more cash for their coffers..

Interesting that in the top 5, 3 are Canadian teams.

The A-League season is coming to a close, with the finals starting this weekend. These are the final season proper, average attendances. Also as a comparison I have put the city populations in the ()

Melbourne Victory 21,808 (4,350,000)
Sydney FC 18,642 (4,760,000)
Brisbane 14,957 (2,240,000)
Western Sydney 14,860 (4,760,000)
Newcastle 11,949 (308,000)
Adelaide 11,225 (1,290,000)
Melbourne Heart 9,933 (4,350,000)
Perth 9,418 (1,970,000)
Central Coast 9,398 (312,000*)
Wellington 8,201 (397,000)

*includes the whole Central Coast region, the team play out of a city called Gosford with a population of 155,000
