Any update on Dubai Pearl the home of MGM Grand, Bellagio etc? It is such an eyesore and I noticed on a webpage stating that it's due to open in 2017!

I see Nakheel have released the tender for Nakheel Gateway Towers (the towers on top of the monorail car park), didn't see a timeline though.

There's soil testing machines operating between the two branches of the entering/exiting highway on the palm...

R Hotels hires main contractor for $136m Palm Jumeirah resort

R Hotels, the hospitality management division of Ajman-based R Holding, has announced that it has appointed ANC Contracting as the main contractor for the second phase of construction of its new resort and spa on Palm Jumeirah in Dubai.

The company said it has also hired Erga Progress Engineering Consultancy as project consultant for the AED500 million ($136.2 million) project which will include 253 rooms, a holistic wellness centre, two restaurants and family-friendly recreational facilities.

R Hotels said in a statement that the resort aims to be the first four-star and sharia-compliant hotel in the upscale destination.

Represented by Samir Arora, Vice-President for Operations, R Hotels sealed the deal with Engr. Ibrahim Abu Shamat, Operations Manager of ANC, and Engr. Joseph Sawaya, Resident Manager of Erga Progress.

Samir Arora, vice-president for Operations, R Hotels said: “The construction of our new hotel in Palm Jumeirah is in full swing, on track for its completion in 2016. We have our full trust on ANC’s and Erga Progress’ expertise in their respective fields, and in delivering high standards in all aspects of the project.”

Ibrahim Abu Shamat, operations manager of ANC, added: “ANC has always been keen in taking part in Dubai’s growing landscape by teaming up with esteemed groups like R Hotels. We are pleased to be given an opportunity to work with them on their new project at The Palm and this will be an excellent ground to establish a beneficial partnership between the two groups.”

Arora said: “Our Palm Jumeirah property, which is our biggest investment to date, will exemplify our company’s vision of providing top-quality accommodation and facilities to our guests, complemented by top-notch service.”
