Sefton,
Jetparks is close to the airport and has a shuttle bus to the terminals. However, you can park on the aircraft apron if you wish, MAN seems to be using it more for cars than aircraft these days.....

It was a tongue in cheek comment on the fat that despite one of the busiest summers in years just getting into full swing, MAN has taken away in the region of 10+ parking stand and using them as car parking.
Before anyone jumps on me, I fully understand the implications that car parking must be a huge money spinner, but kind of defeats the point when you remove a large chunk of airfield, the reason the cars are parking there in the first place. |

As for the parking charges they are as much a rip off as charging folks to visit a hospital. Yes I know they generate income and as a recipient of the airport's profits - in a very small way as a council taxpayer - I shouldn't complain. |

I don't know much about airports but I thought the airside was supposed to be highly secure. Are they actually allowing the general public to park on the apron?

Thomas Cook to Oakland (San Francisco bay area)?
Apparently not as barmy as you would think. Reports that the Thomas Cook group are about to sign a deal for flights from FRA, ARN and MAN to OAK to begin 2014. Looks like MAN could be about to finally get that elusive west coast link.

FlyBe has sold its Gatwick slots and is looking to re-focus on Airports like MAN. Perhaps good news for us although it would have been nice for them to connect us to LGW by keeping a handful of slots.

That wouldn't be the first time MAN has been linked to OAK. In the late 70s, maybe early 80s there was a series of flights, and I can't remember now if they were operated by Laker or Transamerica.

Flight to Man from Pakistan has been diverted to Stansted, RAF typhoons scrambled - according to BBC.
Apparently nothing terror related? (https://twitter.com/SkyNewsBreak/sta...23947964297217) 2 men have been arrested "on suspicion of endangering an aircraft" according to channel4 (http://www.channel4.com/news/raf-jet...ed-to-stansted) Last edited by JohnnyLeigh; Yesterday at 04:15 PM. |
