Looks like you're correct regarding Cleveland's Terminal Tower but Boston's Prudential Tower is 228m with an antenna stuck on top of it. If you're going to count that thing, First Canadian Place is 355m. Counting antennae is ridiculous imo.

Montreal had taller buildings than Chicago from 1962-1964 but not the tallest outside of New York. Toronto had tallest outside of New York and Chicago 1974-1989 when LA surpassed FCP. After that it was Atlanta.

Hasn't Houston held the title once (1982-1989) with the JPMorgan Chase Tower, too?

I don't count the antenna on the Prudential, the flagpole on the Terminal Tower, or the stick on Montreal's 1250 R-L. I also use feet. TT is 708' and Pru is either 749' or 750'. RL is 653', and the SECOND TALLEST building in Montreal. Since you use meters, Pru is 228.4 to the roof, 276.4 to the antenna.

I believe when the Pru passed TT, flagpoles didn't count. That whole ridiculous ruling didn't come about until Petronas passed the Sears Tower.

EDIT: The below chart shows the ridiculousness of some of these "official" heights. I'll never accept a flagpole, nor an afterthought barely visible side-spire, to push one building past another.

Here is another one you can more personally relate to. FCP is taller, period, end of story. Higher roof, higher occupiable floor, and higher tip. Council of Tall Buildings was way off base to make a ruling that NYTT is taller.

Adding to the comment above, Boston often gets railed on for being too short, but just looking at the numbers doesn't tell the whole story. Here's one that pisses me off a lot. (ps I hate the Colts too) Four Seasons is expected to have a 100' antenna, so that will be 3 buildings here that are visually taller, have taller highest points (JHT antenna is 857'), and are *officially* shorter. It drives me nuts!!!

This isnt a thread about antennas vs. spires. This is a thread about skylines. If you really need to rant about this subject, then please make a different thread.

i went through some of your old posts and haven't seen you adding any pictures to this or other threads. I have to think most people come here for the pictures.

Regarding skylines, mine gets shit on at least partly because other cities add a stick or flagpole and then act like they have the taller buildings. In this case, I am defending my own in a skyline related rant.

Here's a city with TWO of those phony baloney height-grabbing towers, Indianapolis. (twin spires in the middle, flagpole to the right)

Whoever decided that a flagpole counts towards a building's official height should be impaled on one.

A Pinnacle are part of the design of a building
a antenna is a later adittion to the building (is a diferent structure) and dont be part of these

Im one of the people that comes here for the pictures. Im not adding pictures, but Im also not derailing threads by bitching about off-topic "issues" that have practically no significance. How about you do us all a favor and take your whiny bullshit somewhere else.

Maybe you should be, nobody cares about your commentary. Perhaps you think quoting the picture from above should get you some kind of medal, but you would be wrong. Nobody wants to see the same pic twice in succession.

The building on the left in Nanjing is considered taller. I find that significant because the average person has no idea that the "official" comparison is really apples and oranges. I showed how my city gets the "short end of the stick" by not having them (sticks). Chicago has also really gotten shafted for the last 20 years by that ruling. (see WTC > Willis for another bad decision by CTBUH)

How about no. I am going to keep posting pictures. Since you contribute nothing to this thread or website, don't act like you are some sort of arbiter here. Try posting some pictures at least. Do a search on flickr, sort by date taken/uploaded, click the right facing arrow in the bottom right, and post the "BB Code" for a pic. If that's too hard for you, then maybe you're the one who should leave.

They can count spires, but they have to count antennae, too. Either count both or count neither. After all, both are sticks, and there's really not much of a significant visual difference.
