In Russia both 3kV= and 25kV~50Hz
Georgia seems mostly 3kV= but may be this will change with the BTK project
Iran 25kV~50Hz

Stadler forms joint venture in Azerbaijan
http://www.railwaygazette.com/news/b...zerbaijan.html

Stadler Rail and local partner International Railway Distribution LLC announced the formation of a 51:49 joint venture on July 17.

Stadler said it foresees a demand for its products as CIS countries modernise their rail networks and encourage the transfer of traffic from road to rail.

Wow! Is there any information when the service Baku - Tiflis - Kars - Ankara - Istanbul will start?
Is it just a seasonal luxury train or a regular one?

All coaches will be delivered till 2017, probably the service will start then.

The new railway line between Georgia and Turkey should also be operational then, at the Innotrans fair in Berlin I asked a representative from TCDD and got the information that it is planned to open the line in late 2015.

As ADDY ordered 30 coaches (3 trainsets a 10 coaches) I'm quite sure that it will be a regular service. With 2 trainsets in use and one in reserve (for maintenance) I assume that a train every 3 days or twice-weekly can be offered.

I expect the demand for through passenger trains will be quite strong, so perhaps the railways will try to operate all three sets in traffic, with maintenance only taking place between journeys. That way you could have a service on alternate days.

I wonder if some sort of interim service will be offered, involving a change of trains at the gauge change station in Georgia, prior to the arrival of the purpose-built Stadler coaches?

I wonder as well, but as long as the railway track isn't finished... Does anyone know the status of track laying between Kars and the Georgian border?

So the idea is that the service will go all the way from Istanbul to Baku?
