Just need to soften the brutalist architecture a bit. many years ago there was a proposal for a 15F tower on top of the main building (above NMR ave entrance).

Pit it never materialised

Impressive. I love the NMR entrance interior although the exterior entrance looks kinda insufficient to cope with high volumes of commuters.

And since i was at it, i thought heck lets pop into Durban station to see how things are going there...

well works seems to be full steam ahead. The covering over the escalators has been removed, serious remodeling is underway inside and alot has already been completed.

I must comment that i was seriously impressed by the number of SAPS cops i saw about and felt completely safe walking around. New cafes looked to be popping up, a CNA going in and some Fast food joints. Turning out great and will keep trying to pop in when i can.

Turning out great. Very nice. Thanks for visiting and posting the pics. This will be one of the best looking stations in the country when done.

Ya but it has bad connectivity to the city, I dont think ita a practical station like ht eold Durban station was which was in the city. 99% of Durban station traffic goes out the West side of the building onto Umgeni rd

Yup, hence the even bigger changes afoot that side (never got round to take snaps there)

That is also why the Warwick station will be getting a monster upgrade when all the issues around there are sorted out. That one is slap bang in the middle.

This station is primarily long distance trains, all national and international routes leave from here. but yes there is normal commuter
