An electric car is an automobile that is propelled by one electric motor or more, using electrical energy stored in batteries or another energy storage device. Electric motors give electric cars instant torque, creating strong and smooth acceleration

Not really a fan of e-vehicles here. Still, it consume electricity produced from power plants emitting huge CO2. But it is a good start and hopefully sa mga big outlined vehicles like bus, train and not jeepneys or tricycles.

I hope DOST would venture into Hydrogen as the future alternative.

CLEAN TRANSPORT COMES TO QUEZON CITY

A worker cleans the City Optimized Managed Electric Transport (COMET) e-jeep unit inside a garage in EDSA Balintawak, QC, September 26, 2014 in preparation for its complete launching yesterday at the SM North Edsa. The COMET is a high-tech transport system in the country and smoke free. There will be designated stops where these 20-passenger electric shuttles can pick up and drop off passengers and recharge their batteries. It also has a built in Television and WI-FI. The route would be from SM north Edsa to LRT Katipunan via Luzon Avenue. (Linus Guardian Escandor II)

Thanks for keeping us updated. Didn't take that long for this project to take off. And that involved getting the buy in from Pasang Masda. Impressed.

COMET will definitely lessen road mishaps since the top speed is only 60kph. Should be enough speed in an urban setting.

There is no need for aircon because of the large windows. It is spacious enough to stand inside, much like the bus, so expect good ventilation. Their units are connected to a command center for assistance.

E trikes

^^ Has anyone come up with an idea to put metre on e-trike, like a real poor man's taxi? What I see here is that they are trying to use e-trikes as an alternate to jeepney, with multiple passengers - a poor man's jeepney?

I agree on putting meters on e-trikes,passengers pay more than what they would actually do, it should be based on the distance travelled, not on contract or agreement. :D:)

In the Philippines, the EVAP is pushing for the Alternative Fuel Bill which is being championed by Senator Bam Aquino in the Senate and Congressman Mark Villar in the lower house to get incentives for Electric Vehicle Manufacturers and dealers.

Here are more reasons to support electric vehicles:

1. New jobs
2. More taxes for the government
3. Multiplier effect
4. Carbon credits from emission reduction
5. Dollar savings from Oil Import Reduction
6. Savings from pollution-related health expenses
7. Net VAT gain on EV Sales
8. VAT collection from additional energy demand
9. Net Revenue Gain with all things considered
