Medamud

8km North-East of Luxor

A simple temple to the god Montu has existed
in Medamud since the end of The Old Kingdom.
During the Middle Kingdom's 12th dynasty however,
the old temple was completely rebuilt on a bigger scale.
Further building and renovation continued well
into the time of the Roman Empire.
