I was surprised to find Iberia operating an A340 between MAD and LHR. Is this normal? Also, perhaps time to remove BD from the thread title?

A340's on the evening MAD flight have been very common for some time now; -600 more often than not, as well. Probably a way of increasing fleet utilisation.

As for the thread title: is it just the mods that can change this? BD needs removing and VY adding.

Iberia seems to have learnt a lot from BA. Look a lot more professional now, hope the turnaround continues.

Thanks for that. I suppose there are a number of other short-haul flights out of Heathrow on wide-bodied aircraft, including the flight to GLA I used which was on a 767.

As for the title change, I think it is only the mods who can alter it.

Rumours of British Airways adding flights to St Maarten in the Caribbean. I'd guess thrice weekly from London Gatwick.

This is an interesting one. Being leisure, instinctively LGW comes to mind. However, if BA Holidays plan to sell it as a niche, higher end destination, I wouldn't rule out a B787 out of LHR. That way they could get additional feed from other parts of Europe like Scandinavia.

They could very well do however I feel thrice weekly from London Gatwick on a 777 and possibly operating as a tag-on to an existing Caribbean destination is far more likely.

The Irish Independent is reporting that BA will move its Dublin and Belfast services from T1 to T5 in October. This is, kind of, obvious given that T1 is closing, BA will not operate from T2 and T3 does not have any domestic gates. Expect remote stands and buses to be used, however.

Sad to know that the BA 744 (G-BNLL) that was involved in a ground incident in Johannesburg, South Africa last year has been written-off.
