Wow can i just say to everyone who has posted on here i have learnt SO much about the pinnacle, i have been watching this forum since the day it started and have been so eager for this building to be built, ive wanted to be kept updated on whats happening to the building at the moment and i have been! Lumberjack, i really like your photos theyre really good! And im going to london for my birthday so i might just walk past the pinnacle site and take some myself :o I really hope this building gets built because i belive what makes a city is its skyscrapers , when people goto london you want them to know its the city and not just a big town....
Anyway if anyone knows anything else please update this as i would really like to know what is going to or is happening to the core!
cheers =D

I "like" the statement made by Stanhope Plc: "When our involvement with Bishopsgate Tower began an existing consent was in place, but the scheme was neither commercially nor financially viable."

Actually they are referring to the redesign that happened when the height had to be reduced. Stanhope haven't been involved on the project since 2006

They're not new cabins. They've just taken the old ones off of the steel framework and put them on the ground (along with the step sections). From the view from my office it just looks like they are sitting there waiting to be taken away.

The video was really interesting but it does make me sad that possibly this won't see the light of day.

Removal of the cabins is just for the site being mothballed. Still not sure why the cranes are still in place, aren't they owned by BM?

Interesting video.

The spin at the end really shows the contrast about how good the proportions look when viewing the narrow ends, and how bad they look when looking at the wide facades.

Whatever design goes on this site will have to solve the problem of making it soar when seen from the east and west.

I'd also not appreciated the flattened look of this building from some angles.

With so much work done on the foundations at this site, I wonder if this actually makes it less likely that a different building will be built at all there. Are there any other examples of skyscrapers sitting on foundations designed for another building? Redoing it would add a lot of cost to the new project, and I wonder if developers would prefer another site altogether.

Frankly I think London has been saved from an ugly and half baked building. This gives us the oppportunity for something new, and better on this site.

I would rather have something 5 stories smaller that looks nicer from ALL angles....obviously something just as tall that looks nicer will be extremely sexy however.

I agree. This building could have been nice, but had a very odd shape to it from certain projections (namely, the "flat" side), where it looked like it was meant to be taller but got decapitated.
