Also work was going on in full swing on the Cauvery South Bridge and the supervisor said it will be completed in 5 to 8 months. He said North bridge will be taken up by the same company shortly. Shifting Tippu's Armoury according to the same man is taken up by another company. What is heartening is that Bridge work is going on in full swing and we can derive from that the Armoury will be shifted shortly !

This demonstrates the decision making ability of the current Central Government. We had a real policy paralysis in the last 10 years before this govt came in. Heartening to note the developments.

This also proves SCR is more efficient in laying new tracks... SWR is worst here also :-(

High-speed train: Chinese delegation to visit Mysuru

The team will study the feasibility of raising the speed limit on the Mysuru-Bengaluru-Chennai section.— PHOTO: M.A. SRIRAM

A high-level delegation of China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co. Ltd (CREEC) will visit Mysuru on November 27 to study the feasibility of raising the speed limit on the Mysuru-Bengaluru-Chennai section.
The technical team will carryout track inspection and collect data on November 28, for which the Mysore Railway Division has been directed to extend cooperation.
Sources in the South Western Railway told The Hindu over phone that the section has been identified as a high-speed corridor and High Speed Rail Corporation of India Ltd. has already signed an MoU with CREEC. The CREEC has been assigned the task of conducting field study, including survey and design work for raising the speed to 160 kmph along the corridor. The local authorities have been directed to provide technical details, apart from arranging a rear-window inspection car to the visiting delegation. Sources in the Railways said things have begun moving fast on the issue of increasing speed on the Mysuru-Bengaluru-Chennai section ever since the MoU was signed in September 2014.
Though members of HSRC conducted a preliminary inspection of the stretch between Mysuru and Bengaluru last month, there was scepticism that speeds of 160 kmph could be achieved on the section in view of track geometry and curvature.
With 135 curves of more than 5 degrees, the Railway officials had pointed out that a top speed of 160 kmph could be achieved only on an 8-km stretch in the entire corridor. Hence, it was mooted that using conventional technology with a little investment on tracks to reduce the curvature at 37 places, a speed of 130 kmph could be achieved to cover the 139-km distance in 75 minutes or less.

SCR is efficient for sure. But this has nothing to do with that as the complete RDG-TK line falls under SWR. This is only because of AP local leaders efforts.

Tippu's Armoury

In Bangalore-Mysore Doubling Project. This project is not designed honestly. No need to remove Tippu's Armoury.

Railways' are building Bridge near Tippu's Armoury that is totally wrong, they should build bridge (Left Side) other side of current bridge.

Some people want to remove Tippu's Armoury in any cost.

see in Google Earth if I am wrong.

Too late to realign. The pillars of all bridges areover long time back and paschimavahini completed. The options at srirangapatana is limited. Please Google map the station and see. I don't see a political angle in everything. 70% of the tracks were completed in the previous regime. Its logical to complete balance 30% of which most of it is already completed.

Sunil along with SWR even Karnataka govt is not taking any initiative for land acquisition. In AP almost 40% of the work is completed and another 20-30% of land acquisition is completed. This was due to the effort of former revenue minister of AP who took lot of interest.

But in Karnataka there is no land acquisition for this project. If Karnataka Govt had also shown the same interest, nearly 40-50 km work have been completed in Karnatak also.

If you need 160KM per hour speed Train run via Srirangapatna you should built New bridge backside of Fort as straight. you cant run 160KM per hour speed train in current curve.

see in Google Earth if I am wrong.

whoever design this doubling project they are not Engineers, they are like Plumbers. I am SURE.

Hosadurga - Chikkajajuru doubling

Looking at the progress, it may get completed by March 2015, although initial deadline was March 2016. Track laying of entire stretch is progressing well except some short patches.

see in Google Earth if I am wrong.
but that would have required demolition of existing railway station and rebuilding.. as track would come on other side

SWR Zonal Manager should write letter to CM requesting of Land, also he should send reminder every month. but he is sleepy, in same time our CM should take action for Land acquiring or replying to SWR.

They should wake up.

And Ranganathaswamy Temple will also come in the way. Even with the current alignment ASI had a lot of objections since no railway track should come 100 meters near a heritage building since the vibration from the trains would harm it. Obviously there must have been a compulsion for the current alignment or maybe railways underestimated the ego of people at the helm of ASI and went ahead with the bridge construction even before approval from them.

Western Railway on Friday will mark 150 years of its rail line entering Mumbai. It was on November 28, 1864, when the first Bombay Baroda and Central India (BB&CI) train on the western coastal lines of Bombay (now Mumbai) chugged into Grant Road station from Ahmedabad in Gujarat.WR archives show that for its return journey, the train left Grant Road at 7am and reached Ahmedabad at 5pm the next day. In the Up direction on its way to Bombay, the train left Ahmedabad at 7am and arrived at Grant Road station at 5.30pm the next day.The long journey is attributed to the trains in both directions running only up to Surat on the first day. The train would reach Surat around 5pm and leave for the next leg of the journey around 7am the next day. There was a refreshment room and Traveller's Bungalow at Surat for passengers who needed to go beyond the city.An interesting anecdote from WR archives shows that because during those days the Narmada bridge was not built, there was a boat which ferried passengers across the river. First-class passengers had to pay six annas, second-class three annas, and third-class one anna for the boat ride. On either side of the river, there were palkees or shigrams for first- and second-class passengers for an extra Rs2 per passenger.
WR now runs about 60 trains between these two centres of trade and business, with some of its prestigious trains, including Shatabdi Express, Duronto Express, and AC Double Decker Express running on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route.
WR, in its present form, came into existence on November 5, 1951, with the merger of its forerunner, the BB&CI, with other state railways — Saurashtra, Rajputana and Jaipur.

Any news regarding the renovation of Ernakulam terminus station? Kochi badly needs a 8 - 10 platform international standard station. Once the station is upgraded, few trains from Coimbatore & Mangalore can be extended till Kochi.
