Question 50th floor observation deck at One Canada Square to reopen?

Seeing as the Shard offers a observation deck, in effect pulling tourists away from Canary Wharf, what are the chances that the observation deck at One Canada Square will reopen?

The infrastructure is already in place.

I know Canary Wharf want to make the general area:
- A more family friendly place (N.B Wood Whaf, for example)
- A touristy place (N.B Shopping Centre, for example)
- A nice place to live (N.B Pan Peninsula, for example)

It needs to compete more with The City in order to do so. The first logical step would be to reopen the observation deck.

Discuss.

I don't think the first logical step would be to reopen the observation deck at all.

I suspect it will never happen. The building allowed visitors when it was more or less empty. I don't think the lift arrangement allows for separation of visitors and staff.

I can't imagine the company renting the space would be too happy.

I can't see it happen because of the Shard, but it will be quite nice if they did.

Security was the main reason for not having a public viewing area at the top of the tower, and unless there is a change of policy by the CWG, its unlikely that there may ever be a viewing area here. Pity. I don't think CW needs the tourists, but it may want the glamour of high rise restaurants and bars for its corporate banking world clients. Perhaps these will be included in one or more of the new towers.
