Stará niť o slovenských diaľniciach je stále na Východoeurópskom fóre a vyzerá to, že nebude presunutá. Rozhodol som sa teda vytvoriť novú niť o slovenských diaľniciach tu.

Current status of motorway and expressway network:



Some terminology:
D (0-4)- highway (from word "Diaľnica")
R (1-7)- expressway (from words "Rýchlostná cesta")


Diaľnice:
Motorways:

D1
- the longest motorway in Slovakia - 503 kilometres
- starts in Bratislava at interchange with D2 and will end at Ukrainian border near Užhorod
- connects Bratislava with the the most industrialised region Považie, with Poprad and High Tatras, the second biggest Slovakian city - Košice, Ukrainian border and Ukrainian cities L'viv and Kyiv
- very important for Slovakia because it is something like the backbone of the country
- it has almost the same routing as the main railway corridor in Slovakia
- still under construction
- officials are planning widening on six lanes between Bratislava and Trnava.
- a lot of tunnels will be built especially in north-central Slovakia

D1 map:


D2
- this is the first finished motorway in Slovakia
- starts at the border with Czech republic and ends in Bratislava - Čunovo at Hungarian border - 80 kilometres long
- connects Bratislava with Prague and Budapest and Budapest with Prague as well
- very important for international transport

D2 map:


D3
- starts at interchange with D1 near Hričovské Podhradie and ends at Polish border near Skalité - 59 km
- will connect D1 (thus Bratislava and Žilina) with Poland - Katowice and Czech Republic - Ostrava thnaks to a short expressway R5 near Svrčinovec
- important because of new automotive industry near Žilina and Ostrava
- now under construction, some parts in half profile (2x1) but officials want to build it in full profile in cooperation with Czech republic and connect Žilina and Ostrava by regular motorway and expressway

D3 map:


D4 or D0
- proposed highway, now there is only 3 km long section between Austrian border in Bratislava - Jarovce and D2
- it starts at Austrian border near Bratislava - Jarovce, then it will continue via the sixth bridge over Danube in Bratislava 2 shorter tunnels and one about 9 km long tunnel under Malé Karpaty mountains north of the capital, it will end again at Austrian where it will join expressway S8
- this motorway will cross D2, R7, R1, D1, and again D2
- it will be the outer ring of the city
- cost of this project is about € 2 billion (including the bridge and the tunnel)

The first rendering is a bit outdated now. Austrian S1 from Vosendorf to Schwechat is in operation. In probably less than a year A6 will be put into operation as well.

From my information, however, the railway Twin City infrastructure is not progressing that fast, as the road one. If CAT could reach Blava,it´ll be great.

I hope a6 kitsee-parndorf is finished soon, as I have to bear with those road closures on that route twice a week :(...
Do you have any more info on this section? Like a preliminary completion date? Thx

Úsek cesty I/65 od Hronského Benadiku po Šášovské Podhradie v dĺžke 39,0 km nahradí rýchlostná cesta R1 s dĺžkou 40,5 km

What more to say - čo viac povedať, it´s a great gallery. Precise, nice and encompassing. And I hope you´ll continue with, Suchá Hora - Chocholów is the last photo journey, so it´s approximately in the middle of the Slovak-Polish roads.
I´m looking forward to the next issue.

R2 sections, Ožďany and Tornaľa bypasses, with a total lenghth of 17 km has been opened to traffic today.

Dlho očakávané úseky rýchlostných komunikácií R2 - obchvat Oždian a Tornale, dnes odovzdali do užívania verejnosti. Motoristom sa tak výrazne skrátia prejazdy pomalými a náročnými úsekmi a obyvateľom oboch sídel sa zníži hustota dopravy.

"Automobily už dlhé roky znepríjemňovali našim obyvateľom život," povedal starosta Oždian Ján Ďurčák. "Postavenie obchvatu navyše zníži aj riziko nehôd, ktoré boli v našej obci časté," dodal.

Otvorením oboch úsekov sa skráti a zrýchli južné prepojenie Bratislavy s Košicami. Dodávateľom viac ako 11-kilometrového úseku okolo Tornale je spoločnosť Doprastav. Zmluvná cena stavby je 1,65 miliardy Sk. Vybudovaním tejto cesty sa odkloní z centra mesta najmä tranzitná doprava v smere východ-západ, ako aj v smere na hranicu Slovenska s Maďarskom.

Realizátorom stavby obchvat Oždian bola spoločnosť Strabag. Viac ako 6-kilometrový úsek cesty bol kvôli členitému terénu zložitejší na výstavbu. Jeho cena bola vykontrahovaná na 1,44 miliardy Sk. Stavba zahŕňa 6 väčších mostných objektov v celkovej dĺžke 914 metrov, 2 podzemné steny, 1 zárubný a 1 oporný múr.

For tomorrow is planned ceremenial start of the boring of Borik tunnel on D1 Mengusovce-Janovce section.

D1 and D3 sections Vrtizer-Hricovske podhradie and continuation to Zilina Strazov openings will probably occur on December 15, it will be confirmed.

Are you quite sure ?. There is still a lot work to do at Zilina Strazov section.
I was there 2 weeks ago. In my opinion, it takes about 1 year to finish this section. From other point of view, the advanced progress in the Vrtzer-Hricovskie section construction is visible. Maybe it'll be possíble to finish there earlier ?

PS: Your D1 highway from the km90 is beautiful, really pleasure to drive there - the nice road and this landscape from the right and the left (Beckov, Trencin) - to je super

I´m coming out from the reports of NDS /National Highway Agency/ and according to their sayings they would do everyting to bring D1 and 4km of D3 section into the operation this year, date of December 15 is planned, although not confirmed date, it might be a Christmas present to the drivers.

our way starting near Hricovske podhardie..total lenght of highway project 6,85 km, 24197 cars/ per day was in 2005 expected further increase

note on left side Airport Zilina(not on picture), and 4lane highway for short lenght ..nice

Yeah, when we compare the progress in Slovakia and Croatia, it is uncomparable. I have no idea how can Croatians buid the highways so fast (about 100 km per year).
