I was just thinking today perhaps a good site for next would be on shalesmore? lots of derelict old warehouse buildings around there and not as difficult to access as staples/mothercare. I presume there is a reason why none of this land has been developed but I'm not sure why

Shalesmoor is further from the centre and isn't allocated as retail though.
The planning documents state that land to the North West of Moore Street and Charter Row is allocated for bulky retail. There is loads of derelict land around there (near the substation) that would be perfect for this purpose and yet is still within easy reach of the Moor. |

The argument is that this format doesn't serve a City or Town Centre it serves the S Yorks sub region .Its exactly the same argument for HS2 and Ikea. This is why this is really the only site, a City Centre or edge of centre location will put customers off from further away, making the format unviable according to Next. As this is a new departure for them, they should know best their needs.
