Since I really like Ipoh, and somebody has already posted the Old Ipoh pictures.
These are some pix of a forgotten city. [I'll try to find somemore Ipoh pix at dusk.]

Ipoh might not have many big, tall buildings like modern Penang or JB.
But, aren't these cool!

I think these few shops in Jalan Bijih Timah Old Town will not survive long.....in fact u can find there are 2 shops being smaller (only 2 windows) compare others. These are 2 very unique shophouses in Old Town bcos Old Town was not as well planned as New Town in the past since this is the very initial part of the town settlement before better town planning took place. So there are some alleys, shops not in the standard size & this is something shall be preserved..... Oh pls, someone pls do something to prevent these shops from disappearing.....

Ipoh was a nice cool place.

But, perhaps due to massive development of housing, lots of vegetation has been uprooted.

You can markly feel Ipoh is much hotter than before, especially noon time.

Ipoh is even hotter than KL. Also, you can feel the glare. There are less tress now than before.

It is very sad to see such uncontrolled development spoiling the beautiful Ipoh.

New KFC & Pizza Hut on the way

Accidentally found this construction site along Jln Kuala Kangsar near Tasek. It is located between Tmn Tasek Jaya and IGB Industrial Park, more precisely, beside Petronas station. Construction is ongoing, you would expect to see some sort like Mc D drive thru or Burger King kind of building in a few months.

Perak jadi bandar dagang produk China

Agree with u, Ipoh really sort of out of control......no master plan, no vision, no direction :eek:hno:. Thats y sometime i rather slow down the development until a wiser local government with sufficient brain cell to manage the urbanization nicely, preventing the current damage on the city to continue.....

perhaps the hot and glare thing in Ipoh are perhaps due to our crystal/clean clear air. Too much sunlight above. if not mistaken our earth's zone layer is thickening.

Where else in KL, the air are so polluted until that there hardly any direct sunlight and probably glare from above.

i might be wrong ..hahaha..just my common sense opinion

There is another budget hotel on the way nearby, with current fast growing housing estate along Jln Kuala Kangsar all the way to Chemor, plus population from existing a few Malay kampung, Chinese new village, Indian settlement and a whole bunch of foreigner (of course they are Indonesian, Nepalese, Vietnamese and Burmese), hope these establishment will make Tasek area another growing hub in northern Ipoh.
